Sometime ago signal work here changed the timing of the walk signals so that they change to "Don't Walk" much more quickly resulting in very long times for walkers to wait for the next "Walk" signal. This encourages walkers to just go against all "Don't Walk" signals. It used to be that the "Don't Walk" signal would come on just shortly before the car signals changed, giving walkers more time to cross safely.
