Description
I have observed this house for many years and I don't understand how it can remain in such shape, and someone is still living it though it is condemned. This house is at the gateway to my neighborhood and presents a terrible blighted impression. I feel for the surrounding property owners and what this house is doing to their chances of ever selling their homes at a good price. How is this not bulldozed yet??? Kyle

Good afternoon Kyle.
We filed a nuisance suit against the property owner in circuit court and a structured timeline was ordered by the judge to make repairs to the house. After the property owner failed to make any of the ordered repairs we took him back to court for a contempt hearing and ended up having a receiver appointed. The receiver was to evict the occupant, see that the structure was brought up to code and charge the repairs against the property, ultimately resulting in foreclosure if the owner fails to pay for the repairs plus legal costs.
I received word the first week of June that the court appointed receiver had resigned. I spoke to the City Attorney last week and he informed me that a new receiver has been chosen and the necessary paperwork is being prepared to inform the court and proceed with the process.
I'll have more information within the next week and I'll provide an update when I receive it.
Thank you.

Hello Kyle.
The eviction hearing took place on July 29th and the Judge ordered that the owner must vacate the property. He also put the owner in contact with Housing Access for Washtenaw County. After he receives the response from the County Housing program he will issue the eviction date. I have not received notice yet of the follow up hearing, but I'll provide an update when I do.

Kyle,
The judge signed the order today. The defendant has until August 22nd to voluntarily vacate the premises. If he is not out by the 22nd, a writ will be filed on the 23rd. About 10 days after the writ is filed the Sheriff's office will remove the occupant and belongings and take legal possession of the house.
