I've been told that Malden has a city ordinance prohibiting smoking within 15 feet of any entrance or exit way of a building. If this is really true, is there a way to clear the smokers (many of whom are employees) from the entrance to the Stop and Shop? They are always in the area by the door. There is frequently a detail police officer working at that store. Could they start enforcing the rule? Thanks!

What about also speaking to the Stop and Shop manager and having him or her convey to the employees that smoking is not permitted near the entrance?
Can the Malden Police enforce this rule?
