It has been there for almost two years. The first structure moved in summer of 2014. Constant activity including suspected drug dealing and theft. This camp is also connected to the constant stream of RVs in the neighborhood that are often the center of excessive noise and violent activity.

This is all due to a mayor And city leaders that are too scared to make heads spin and start doing something. They don't know how dangerous these encampments are. These people or most have some sort of mental illness and it only takes one spark to fuel a fire.

That's really not cool on so many levels. Why does this neighborhood have to put up with this. When the folks put in the encampment under the freeway I was told it would be there 6 more month when they moved the barricades in end of last summer, it's been way more than that at this point. I have been calling the mayors office to vent frustration I recommend doing the same. Also there is apparently a committee meeting at Oakland city hall on May 9th at 4 or 5pm, where people can get 2min talking time. Committee is called "Life Enrichment", spread the word and let's all show up.

Per AF, we need to keep calling the City, attend your neighborhood Council Meetings and such. The encampment under 580 caught on fire (after all the other houses/buildings that went up in flames). This is not OK. The City is endangering its residents life, lawsuit against the city is the next step.

Agreed. Especially since these were supposed to be temporary and not permanent crime & trash attracting locations.
And I also don't think it's fair that I pay the same amount of taxes as the folks in the hills and they don't have to put up with this, I think the neighborhood has been more than patient but 2 years is too long to see no progress.
I will keep posting the info about the committee into new threads when I see them. We also need to put pressure on our Council Member, for District 3 its Council Member: Lynette Gibson McElhaney
