Description
I do not know why I am bothering to do this, as the City of Oakland Parks Department seems determined to ignore the concerns that I, and MANY others, have expressed for months. THE SMALL DOG PARK AT JOAQUIN MILLER NEEDS WOOD CHIPS ASAP! Many dog owners have been begging for months, only to get these "acknowledged" messages but nothing ever happens. I have been told by a supervisor that the plan was to bring sand in instead of the wood chips (of which there is still a parking lot full, only a couple of hundred feet away), but this never happened. During the rainy season, the park looks as if it could be used as a mud-wrestling pit, while in the warmer weather, it is a dust bowl if there are more than a couple of dogs and they actually RUN and play (the purpose of having a dog park). Speaking of the dust, I am currently recovering from dust pneumonia. Hmmmm, wonder how that could have happened?!? Seriously, City of Oakland? This is an EASILY resolved issue. Do you really think that we want to breath dust with dog fecal and urine particles? Instead of some of the city trucks rolling empty through the park at breakneck speeds, perhaps they could back one or two of them up, load them with chips and drive them a couple of hundred feet and dump them (preferably INSIDE the fence)? WE have said over and over and over again that we will bring rakes, etc from home and spread them ourselves.
