The city needs to enforce timely graffiti cleanup on private property. Allowing graffiti to remain for over a week because it's private property is not acceptable. These kids have been vandalizing this neighborhood for going on 2 years now, and the more their work is allowed to remain the more encouraged they are to keep creating new works. Does the city not have the power to clean up the graffiti and then bill the property owner if the property owner refuses to clean it a reasonable amount of time? If not, this needs to be implemented.
Code Enforcement received the complaint today and our inspector is notifying the property owner that the fence must be cleaned up. As far as the sign and sidewalk and transformer box, our public works department has covered the graffiti even though this area has an association that is responsible for the repairs. There is always faster response time if a complaint is called in because it does not have to filter through different departments to get to the correct areas. Please always feel free to leave a message after hours at 763-785-6187 or speak with me during office hours with the problem and the address. That way we can ask you questions or call you back if we need clarification or have any questions regarding the issue. We are here to help.
