The property owner has one or two more things to complete and he will be in compliance with the violations. We continue to monitor the property.

It has been over a month since this was last updated. It looks to me they have not done a thing since then. Have they been fined or am I wrong about the progress they've made? Please update all of us about their Nusiance Property Violation. Thanks.

Window on back door has been missing for a couple weeks now, busted up grill is in the driveway with garbage spilling out again, and a bunch of misc items and trash are collecting in the driveway and up front AGAIN.

A Municipal Infraction was issued to the property owner yesterday with a initial court appearance the first week of October. I will also be issuing subpoenas to the neighbors to testify in court when this case goes to trail. Jim Sberal

I've been looking for the Municipal Infraction up at Iowa Courts Online under Russell G Olson and it's not on there yet. When will it be on there so I can follow it online?

That's up to the courts, we don't have any control once it is filed.

Owner plead guilty on Friday, paid a fine and the Judge gave him 30 additional days to complete the needed repairs

I know that an inspection will be done on November 8, 2016 to make certain that Judge Magistrate Ronald J. Wagenaar signed judgment has been followed to abate all nuisances on the property. As I write this on the night of November 7, 2016 I still see a rug, microwave, misc. on the west side of the house and garbage on the north side of the house. I also see a red rug on the south side of the house (in the front yard). The door on the west side is missing trim, needs finish painting, and maybe a new window. There is garbage scattered on the property too. He has had over 5 months to abate these nuisances. This has also been going on for over 4 years and I’m sure the neighborhood is tired of seeing his messy property. The Judge needs to do something to put a stop on him continuously breaking City Codes. Thank You.

The code enforcement officer is discussing contempt of court charges with the city attorney on the property owner. We don't, however, tell the judge how to do his job. There is no way to keep someone from violating a nuisance ordinance continuously, nor can/will a judge put that in the court order. Each violation is a separate issue and will be dealt that way with the courts.

Contempt of Court Charges is fine by me. He needs to learn this won't be tolerated.

There is no update at this time, it has been turned over to the city attorney.

Need to flag them for 2 broken windows. One on back door and one window on the back of the house. They usually just let them be open but tend to board them up when someone comes knocking. four small children live in this house and I doubt a winter draft is safe. They also still have the broken busted up grill spilled over. lots of leafs not being dealt with, and numerous food packages blowing around.

When will the city and city attorney be pressing contempt of court charges on Russell G Olson? Thanks

It has now been almost 6 long months since Russell G Olson violated the judge's order. It also has been almost 6 long months since the city attorney has known about this case, but yet no contempt of court charges have been filed against Russell G Olson. I think it's ridiculous that contempt of court of charges have not been filed against Russell G Olson and I'm getting tired of not seeing justice being served on this case. It's time to get the wheel of justice going again on this case.
