It’s often the “small things” in a neighborhood like graffiti, debris and unkempt lawns that create a less than positive view of the community and impacts the way others feel about the neighborhood. The city side/sidewalk of this lot has become a haven for leftover bottles, trash, debris and tagging...because of this, it has invited more vandalism as evidenced by this recent graffiti/ tag. The sidewalk needed cleaning first but since that was not taken care of by the city, now it needs cleaning and a good scrubbing since the driveway to this lot has been now been tagged as well.
Specifically, the empty lot at 1435 Webster and the surrounding area is blighted. The site is planned for development, but who would want to live there or run a business at this troubled location?
I have reassigned to Liz, who works with the Webster Street Business Association and the cleaning of Webster Street. Sincerely, Gail Carlson, Public Works
The graffiti pictured above near the corner of Webster and Taylor was cleaned up, but this area is a graffiti and dumping hot spot. Specifically, the empty lot at 1435 Webster at Taylor and the liquor store across the street. There have also been assaults and other crimes in the immediate vicinity. These sort of things compound and feed on each other.
Thank you for reporting this instance of Graffiti – Business Districts.
