Description
the recently added Recycle for Change (phone# 510-932-3839) big green box on the sidewalk on the corner of 5th and Lincoln is an absolute eyesore. It is covered with graffiti and always has donations on the ground that end up in the street or kicked down the sidewalk. There is another box same charity right down the street that has been the for years. Is there some zoning that addresses the density and location of these boxes?

their boxes as well as the blue boxes are a magnet for dumping anything from used tires to mattress , These boxes fall under the same regulation than the newspaper vending machine , they may not interfere with traffic , they may not be permanently secured to city or public transportation post and fixture including traffic light , they must be free of graffiti at all times . By the way they also are supposed to get approval from the City , you have such ordinance it was passed years ago , Thanks the Great Al , trouble is at City Hall they rather look at the clock collect a fat check than investigate and find a solution . I cannot park or obstruct the sidewalk in front of my house why not them . Problem is , few leave in the City just collect the paycheck and leave , we need local Employees .

Alameda has an ordinance which was pushed several years ago by City Council Member Al , the Great Al , the city has the tools they are simply shoving the responsibility to Dept which have little or no jurisdiction , All these boxes cannot be secured to City or transportation fixtures nor traffic light , it is in the books have been for years ,
So please ladies and Gentlemen at City hall get off your desk read the ordinances . Not public work issue , it is a legal issue , this why you are getting a fat check every month .
