The Street Maintenance division has closed this work order. This street is private and the City does not maintain it. In discussing the private street concern with the city engineer she told me the option to make a street private is completely up to the developer. In creating a private street it still must be designed to meet city standards or exceed them regarding the actual street, infrastructure under it and the street lights. The primary reason for a private street is to control traffic flow in regards to freedom of movement by outsiders. This is usually done by creating a gated community such as the one you reside in. Once a street is designated as private the developer or HOA assumes full responsibility for the street, drainage system and street lights.
