Description

The bike lane markings come and go on River street and go completely by the time you reach Williams, see the second image. In addition parts of the street were repaved at least a year ago and no lane markings were added for cars or bikes. This paving also did not go to the curb creating a seam in the middle of the bike lane that is unpleasant and potentially dangerous to ride on, see the first image. Water runoff is also a problem with severe puddles forming near the Fairmont St intersection and depressed grate covers as you get closer to Central Square. The riding conditions are downright dangerous having to deal with these issues with fast moving trucks less than a foot away. Compared to Western Ave, no wonder cyclists use the Western Ave lane the wrong direction. River street is a pathetic disgrace for bike infrastructure. It is surprising this as gone on for so long, do no employees use River Street? Did nobody notice pavement was not done to the curb or that line painting was never completed after new pavement was laid? These issues need immediate fixing and a long term plan to provide protection for folks cycling here.
