Thanks so much for posting this Tiffany. I'll do what I can to make sure that Sgt. Wilfredo Cruz knows about this incident. I live in Fair Haven Heights and this is obviously very disconcerting.

This is not an one neighborhood or city problem because this person can go anywhere. Surrounding cities and towns should also be notified. I hope this makes the news for that reason and children lives are at stake.
I have heard another ploy these people use is to ask a child if they can help them find their lost dog. Also let us not forget the Pokeman incident in Madison. Bottom line is parents have to teach their children not to go with strangers

Thank you, I am trying to spread the word as much as I can. This was a terrifying and eye opening experience. I am hoping to get this info out there as much as possible so we can prevent something happening to any children out there.

Have you tried the New Haven Register and Channel 8 News? There is a strong possibility that this person does not live in the area and will try again somewhere else in the state.

I am actually a friend of your oldest son, I live right around the corner from your house. This indecent has scared me so greatly that I feel I need to do everything I can to help spread the word to other parents and residents. I am not sure what other outlets that I can look into so that I can reach as many people as possible. I was hoping to speak with someone from our neighborhood watch program as well.

I did send and email to News 8 report it but have not heard back.

Hopefully some news outlet will publicize this, they did it when it happen in Madison. I doubt if this individual will not try this again somewhere else in the state. Who knows it could be the same person who try to lure the children in Madison. Something has to be done fast to alert as many people possible. See Click is a start but it is not enough. The city has contacts with all the major news outlets and it is time to use them, children lives are at stake.

I agree!!! This was too close a call. He failed at this attempt, but I'm sure he will try again some where, I can't sit by and not share this to unexpected parents or guardians. I am opened to all suggestions as to how to get this info out. This needs to be taken serious so no child get harmed.

The city has to get more proactive now to get the word out, Tiffany there is so much you can do.

I contacted Sgt. Cruz (District 9 supervisor for NHPD) and he is now fully aware of the issue. I talked to a Helen at the New Haven Register and she said you could call her at 203 789-5730.
City of New Haven should be doing more to get this story out. As far as I can see you have done nothing. The only person who responded to this post is the alderperson for the area.
I hope the police contact Madison Police to see if this may be the same individual.

I talked to Channel 8 News they seem concern and said you can call them at 203 784-8810. City of New Haven you should be doing this.

I called and left a message for Sgt Cruz as well I am hoping he contacts me back so I can ask a few questions about joking our neighborhood block watch. I also called WTNH but no one had contacted me back yet. I will call the New Haven Register tomorrow. WFSB channel 3 news came and spoke with me today. I was very happy to see that they were concerned and helping to get the word out. I will attach a copy of the link.

We are fully aware of this issue and are actively patrolling in and around this area during the evening and overnight hours. I'm hoping to locate this individual if he should return or is a local. Tiffany0302...I'll be starting up the Block Watch for my area, the area surrounding the Grand Ave. and Quinnipiac Ave. intersection soon. My neighbor Dan is also interested in resurrecting our group. It ran a few years ago and did pretty well but faded after a while. But folks seem pretty motivated again so feel free to mail me directly at soverylarry@gmail.com to connect. We'll set a meeting place, like the Friends Center at the top of East Grand or the church near East Grand and Lennox. Previously we would meet at like 7pm once a month on a Wednesday night. If that works just shoot me a note and we'll start getting the word out around the neighborhood.

I think once a month is too often. It will work for awhile then interest will fade. I think it will be better if they are held every 3 months unless some kind of special situation arises.

Once a month is good for Sept - May and then it tails off for summer so we won't meet from Jun - Aug. I'll post a place, date and time soon.

After the third monthly meeting attendance will drop to the point where you'll stop having meetings. Once a month is overkill, you'll see.
