It's sad but drivers are ignorant, we already know there isn't any traffic enforcement in our neighborhood. Westville pedestrians, bikers and skaters see it every day. We are just a cut through. I stood in a crosswalk the other day while a NHPD officer watched cars speed by me.

What is it going to take for us to get speed bumps or what Chapel Street and Cleveland Road have to slow traffic on Edgewood Avenue? There are pedestrian signs in crosswalks; 90% of the time they are totally disregarded as cars fly through and one is assuming that they will recognize and obey the stop for a pedestrian signs.

No amount of engineering will overcome arrogance and stupidity. Did you get the license plate number? Call NHPD, make a complaint, and dog NHPD to at least give the owner (and presumably driver) a good talking to.

In the two years I have lived here I have yet to see one person issued a citation for speeding, the solution is to have a police force that will enforce the speed limits by actually penalizing drivers for going over the limit. BTW was the car that went around you Dark Blue newish Chrysler, if so i have yelled at her for speeding down Alston and she made a point of driving back around the block to yell obscenities at me.

NHPD's union contract only allows speed enforcement when done on a special detail, which you occasionally see because the city releases a press announcement telling us they got some grant to pay for the motorcycle unit to be out there doing laser enforcement. This is a systemic problem, and that's the root.

The police can not legally penalize someone for speeding unless they themselves witness it. Sad but true.

As much as I want to see more engineered traffic calming measures throughout the city, until the sociopaths are penalized they aren't going to modify their behavior.

Sad that this kind of neighborhood safety initiative is essentially pay to play. But what would it cost to put up a grant to pay for a few hours of enforcement to start getting the point across? Six hours of time would get 8 mornings of enforcement between 8:15 and 9 - that seems to be the busiest and most dangerous time.

Eight scattered mornings of tickets and warnings closed out with a bit of media (NH Independent, WTNH?) telling the story might really get the point across to at least one or two people.

Any reason we couldn't crowd-fund it from within the community?

I saw the pedestrian sign on the side of the road at Chapel and West Rock an hour ago. I'm going to go pick it up.

The pedestrian sign at Alden and Edgewood was hit by a car today. The base was in place but the sign was about 50 feet away. I picked it up but and tried to replace it in the base but it was hit pretty good and will need to be replaced.

Looking forward to traffic calming at this location
