This chair has been set out with trash on the corner of Hope and Logan for at least 3 weeks now. It's getting dirtier and grungy each day! We have to walk by it everyday and nothing's been done about it. ▶Archived
Sadly, this was reported BEFORE the hurricane. But there's a major tree down at the house right beside it with a couch out now. Maybe they can take care of it ALL at the same time.....
The city collects household waste, recycling, and yard waste. Not furniture. Sadly, the chair is none of those. But we'll collect what the homeowner/property owner is responsible for. Will keep the issue acknowledged until then and until after the City has recovered from Hurricane Matthew. Thanks.
Shouldn't the property owner be fined for this? This is not a normal freebie for the general population. I think the property owner should foot the bill as opposed to the taxpayers.
This pick up would be treated under this provision. However you have a great point; if this were to be repeated then we would charge the property owner. Of course, the desire of User nahgem72@gmail.com is to have the chair removed. The property owner does have a responsibility here, as all citizens do, but we note the City does provide the opportunity to for bulky load pick up once every 90 days upon request. We also note that User nahgem72@gmail.com opened numerous issues on SeeClickFix for this one item. We will handle. Closing issue in SeeClickFix.
The City of Raleigh offers special collections for various items that are not normally picked up as part of Solid Waste Services' curbside collection.
Free Bulky Load Collection is available for residential customers who have bulky items that can be disposed in the landfill, but are too large to fit in a trash bin. This service is limited to one (1) load of up to four (4) cubic yards, which is equivalent to filling the bed of a standard-sized pickup truck, every 90 days. This service is not available to apartment complexes or communities that use a dumpster for garbage collection.
