City Staff is working to clean up the dead fish along the beach. Please refer to these two web sites for conditions of beach water:

FWC gave this response today to PW inquiry on 9/26/16 testing:
Several beaches from Pinellas to Charlotte County have been affected. We conducted investigations at several sites covering St. Pete Beach, Sunset Beach and Johns Pass at both the North Jetty and south of the pass. Many species of fish have been affected including, Pinfish, Baitfish, Sardines, Threadfin, Catfish and Eel. Red tide was detected in medium concentrations at the Johns Pass North Jetty and in high concentrations south of Johns Pass. Water samples analysis from St. Pete Beach and Sunset Beach showed low to medium concentrations of red tide. We continue to monitor the situation and more water samples will be collected for further analysis next week. Our web page will be updated on Friday evening.

Why would you close this as an issue. It was reported that resort guests are concerned. These are our quests and come here to visit our beautiful beaches. I hope all the commissioners are in touch with this site to really see how we are treating our businesses.
I am extremely disappointed that the city is not taking this proactively. I reported this on Sunday afternoon and they want to close the issue.
