Perhaps a pedestrian activated light flashing crosswalk indicators might be better option to call attention to pedestrians crossing, as well as a speed indicator sign, similar to the one near Sellick Park?

Following up on this issue - what are TAC's findings regarding speeding/not stopping for pedestrians at this intersection? Yes, there are existing Ped signs, but drivers don't seem to notice them or bother to slow down to let pedestrians cross. Last week a driver drove right in front of me as I was walking my dog in the crosswalk.

Re Raine's complaint: This is unacceptable. When does the city sit up and take notice of the speeding problem in this area where drivers think they can do what they want and not be worried about any enforcement action or consequences?

I agree with the comments as I have seen so many people speed near this intersection. My kids have told me so many times that cars just don’t stop for them to cross. I have filed complains to TAC regarding other traffic and parking issues. The typical answer seems to be just call the Police. SSF needs to start following what other county are doing. We are already paying the highest sales tax in this area and for speed bumps where it’s not needed but we can’t even get stop sign or signal light put in.

This area of concern is less than a block from the street (Appian Way) that I wrote in about more than 5 months ago regarding vehicles speeding through and not slowing down for a marked crosswalk or cross street (Moonlight Court.)

Appian is a passthrough street that savvy drivers use to avoid driving through traffic signals on Westborough Blvd. These drivers may or may not be residents of the area. This is what I suspect contributes to the speeding on these streets. I asked the city to look in to slowing down traffic on Appian (speed bump or lighted signal) but was blown off with a canned response.

What ever happened to concerns of the taxpaying public? Why is traffic safety always disregarded? Don't put it on the police to solve every concern that South San Francisco politicians choose to ignore. This city is becoming a "San Francisco mini-me city"!!

Maybe my previous comments were too strong for the moderators, but the focus should be on getting the city to control speeding vehicles, not just through police-issued citations, but actual traffic controls and additional signage. Speeding vehicles through busy neighborhoods (with elderly and young children) should not be tolerated. Please take notice of these issues before a tragedy makes it to the news.
