I can't express to you how many "near accidents" I've had at this location. Is it really too difficult for Clifton's "Finest" to patrol this area for a while and ticket people parked too close to the corner?? Is it that difficult to paint "NO PARKING" on the roadway?? If I get into an accident (again) because there is no room to physically drive, who can I submit my claim for repair to?? Mayor Jim, I know that this is not your priority, but this is an issue that not only aggrivates me, but aggrivates my family members and other residents of the neighborhood. Something needs to be done soon before there is an accident - then what? More of nothing?? That's what happened to me when I was hit by another car at that same intersection a few years ago. How much longer do we have to wait?? A few more years?????? Please help us. Thank you.

This "parking" situation has not been resolved. Nevermind the commercial vehicles parked on the street... there are always cars parked so close to the corner that every time I enter/ exit the street, my neighbors and I take a serious gamble on getting into an accident. It's just not safe.

If the police have checked this intersection, why does this situation still exist day after day?? There is a police officer who lives on this street, yet absolutely, nothing has been done to rectify the problem. (But if the City must send police to check again, suggest going around 6pm/ rush hour).

However, I do not think that this is a Police related issue. The curbs need to be painted or signs need to be posted on both sides of the street at this location ("No Parking From Here to Corner" signs would work just fine) 50-75ft from the corner? A few hours to send two men out to install the signs... this is not difficult, Mayor Jim... but it must be since NOTHING has been done to fix this unsafe situation. This is pathetic.

We pay enough taxes in this city... why can't the people that run it do something for it's residents?

Is this ever going to get fixed or do I need to go out and spray paint the curbs yellow myself?? Mayor Jim, I am disappointed in you and this city.

There is no prohibition against commercial vehicles being parked on the street. The fact that they are registered as commercial has no bearing on the subject as far as our municipal ordinance is concerned. Also, the state statute prohibits parking within 50'of a stop sign, not 150'. I had directed the traffic division to continue to monitor the area and take enforcement action as warranted. I have also directed the overnight shift to do the same.

I'm so glad that this issue still exists. (sarcasm) I'm so glad to see that Mr. Greco completely misread what I had suggested as a resolution to the problem. I now understand that commercial vehicles have "no bearing" on the subject as far as Clifton's ordinance is concerned - thank you for clarifying that.

However, I did NOT say that the state statute prohibits parking within 150' of a stop sign - I was SUGGESTING that in this situation that there should be "No Parking" signs installed for a distance of 150' of the existing stop sign as it is extremely dangerous entering & exiting this street. To add to this matter, random cars will park on the "northbound" side of the street within a few feet of its intersection with Van Houten. It is still, after more than a year of reporting this, an issue. I've already had an accident at this intersection because of the inability to maneuver in and out of the street.... do I need to have another in order to get some legitimate attention & reaction to an unsafe issue? I'm beginning to think that the elected officials do not care about the safety of the residents of this city..... it's pretty sad.

Nicole, my suggestion would be to ease your car out rather than complain about parking that is perfectly legal. The city isn't going to make an exception just because one citizen doesn't like something. There are many instances where city drivers cannot see and have to ease out slowly from a stop sign. Hitting something else with your car isn't the city's fault unless a condition exists there that is unusual from other situations -- which Mr Greco pointed out is not the case, as the city ordinance regarding parking near a stop sign is the same city-wide with no unusual signs, prohibitions, or exceptions at your intersection. This intersection is also not a unique or unusual design that would warrant special action. If you were you listening to the point of his post you would be enlightened.

I apologize, Nicole, I misread your post as you hitting something but upon quickly reviewing the thread I realize that perhaps someone hit you -- in which case it is then their fault, not yours or the city's.
