Description
The area from the Park Street bridge to the E 7th Street underpass is horrible to bike along. The cars drive by so fast and there is no space for bicyclists. This is the only way to get from the Park Street bridge and the Embarcadero and yet it is very dangerous to ride. It is not a complete street.
There needs to be bike lanes on this short stretch of roadway.

You do realize they are still building this stretch... and its limited on space by all the buildings and roads.
Where would you propose they put your bike lane?

I agree with cleanjingletown's detour suggestion, which is the route I usually take to get to the E 7th Street cut-through safely.
Both the rebuilt 29th Ave and 23rd Ave overpasses will include bike lanes once those projects are completed, but the 29th Ave bike lanes will only go from Ford St to E 10th St and the 23rd Ave bike lanes from Kennedy St to E 12th St. As such the City of Oakland still has some work to do to complete these connections.
Additional city projects in the works include a Bay Trail extension from Union Point Park to the Park Street Bridge, and bike lane improvements on Embarcadero (10th Ave to Kennedy). There is also an Oakland bike master plan update happening throughout 2017 on which people can weigh in to help set the projects and priorities needed over the next 10 years.
One simple change I would like to see added is a 4-way stop at 29th Ave and E 7th Street, as drivers proceeding east on 29th at this location are typically focused on getting to the freeway on-ramp and are not good about yielding to people walking or biking in the crosswalk from E 7th Street here.
