On 11/8/16 a Stormwater Crew cleaned out all the basins infront of this location. Thank you.

This issue is far from being solved or closed.

Yesterday November 8, 2016 the storm water team of Chris and Linden came out to clean the basins/storm water drains. There are a total of 3 basins/storm drains that need attention.

They started working on the first of three basins/storm water drains, after working one hour, unfortunately their truck stopped working. I was told they would come back out after the truck was fixed when time permitted, they would try to get back out to this location some time this week, if possible.

Not only were they unable to clean or get the standing water out of the basins/storm water drains but they also need to put a work order in, so that the basin/storm water drain can drain out. Its concreted in ! There is no where for the water to go !

This is an environmental concern for St. Petersburg. Can any one say Zika Virus?

This is only the first of many steps that need to be taken by the city to correct the problems I have reported.

This case is far from being closed. This is actually very unacceptable and very disappointed to say the least.

8:45-10:30 am

Francesca and Jimmy worked hard and did a great job checking/cleaning and clearing the lines.
They were very professional and thorough.
They found nothing but lots of water. (one plastic bottle).
Which means the pipes/storm water drains here, are clean.

Which rules one thing out. (blockage is not causing issue).

However the standing water is not good. The water should be draining but its not.
Keep in mind we have had no rain in several weeks now. Almost a full month of no rain.
So in reality the storm drains should be dry. * which as you can see by the photos,
its far from being dry. And the water is not moving.

The next step to resolve this report:
Is to meet and consider options to correct
the concerns of the drainage and standing water and mosquitoes

Considerations: Dredge/clean the pond.
Have/create another location for drainage in this area
Maintenance plan for standing water/mosquitoes

I called Chris Allen at 11:45 am today November 16th.
To say thank you for sending out Francesca and Jimmy
they did a good job.
And to ask to meet with him personally so we can
look to see what possible measures can be taken to
resolve this concern.

I met today with Chris Allen the foreman for Line Cleaning and Aquatics for the city of St. Petersburg.

We discussed the safety, health and damage concerns associated with the storm water drains.
We came up with some ideas and solutions. Here is this part of the plan.

1. Chris will be forwarding our flooding, lack of drainage, mosquito concerns to his boss Sam and the Engineering Department. We hope that engineering can find a safe and suitable way to correct the concerns. We are hopeful that the engineers could study and look at elevations, water run off of storm drains and ponds. Then come up with a plan to correct issue in a timely manner. We realize that they have a lot on their plates now, but getting things scheduled is a step in the right direction.

2. Chris will be looking at the ponds in place that service this area and see if they are clean, flowing or blocked. Possible thought, dredging could be a solution, to hold more water, but must be considered and looked into further.

3. Chris will be setting up some type of maintenance program to keep the 3 drains cleaned out. I suggested routine cleaning every other month until engineering can come up with a plan to correct the issues and put the new plan into action. He is going to see what he can do on his end to be sure the 3 storm water drains are clean and working properly.

4. Chris will be contacting Risk Management to see what can be done to help repair our yard & home, due to continued known issues of water load on home and water run off issues taking away front yard plants, rocks and planters. Driveway that the city put in is now cracked do to continued storm water. Chris and I actually can see the pattern of water now, sinking these areas.

5. Chris gave me Mosquito Dunks. I will be using these to help the city control the mosquito’s in this water drain. I am happy to report that the dunks are Biological Mosquito Control, so it will not hurt our environment. I will be keeping in contact with Chris as to the progress of the mosquito’s breeding or hopefully lack of mosquito breeding in the future. I don’t mind work with Chris on this, if it will help the citizens stay safe. No one wants Zika in their town. St. Pete is no exception to this. Safety first. I am glad we could work on this part of the issue/concern now.

Today is Tuesday December 13th. Jimmy and Francesca came out to clean out 1 of the 3 storm drains. Unfortunately after an hour of working hard, the truck alarm sounded. They were surprised that the truck filled up so fast. Since the storm drains are suppose to drain, why did their truck fill up? It only rained one day last week. We have had no other rain in over a month. And there was only a small amount of water sitting on the road last week.

One thought is that, the pond is higher than the drains themselves. This could explain why there is so much water just sitting there. The misquotes ate my neighbor and I was we watched the process.
They did what they could until the filled up alarm went off on their truck. (see attachment)

- updates on 5 items that need addressing-

The concerns that Chris Allen and I met with and talked about are well, slow going.
Out of the 5 items we talked about here are the updates as of today December 13th

1. When Chris talked with Sam. He was told that a plan was in place to help correct some of the drainage concerns. At this time the city is looking at cost and who will do the actual work.

2. After the holidays I will be contacting Chris to talk to him on what plan he came up with.

3. Chris was going to set up a cleaning plan. * that maybe in place* since Jimmy and Francesca came out today.?

4. Chris contacted Don Putman from Risk Management. Chris got back with me to say that they could be of some assistance to help us. I emailed Don on 11/18, as instructed. The email came back. I contacted Chris and he was going to forward my email to Don. I emailed Chris again 11/18 to let him know that I have not heard from Don. I also called both men about a week later, but as of today I have not be heard back from either Chris or Don.

5. I did put one Mosquito Dunks into the storm drain. In a couple of days I will place another one down there. We’ll have to use some type of chain or something to keep the dunk from floating away. Still a lot of mosquitoes.

March 23rd, 2017.
I wrote Chris again. Mosquitos are getting larger and bite. I understand that the city employees have been busy since the holidays and of course with the extra work of the St. Pete Race, but Don Putman still has not contacted us and its been since October 2016. I have emailed him, as requested to do so and Chris also passed my email along to Don, some time ago. I also tried contacting Don several times via phone and left messages but Don has not returned my call.
Here is the letter I wrote Chris on March 23rd, 2017.

Hi Chris,

Hope your having a good new year.

Will you drop by some more mosquito dunks. I used the last one today. Just a FYI, our drain in front of my home is quite full of water, we’ve had no rain in a while and lots of mosquitoes. Yuck.

Also when we last spoke via email, you where waiting on the pipe upgrade drawings/ideas for our area. I would like to meet with you so see how those are coming.

We still have not heard from Don Putnam, no phone call, no email, about the help we need having the windows fixed.

I’d like to touch base with you before I do another post on to See Click Fix.

March 28th, 2017.

The Storm Drain Team came out and cleaned out the drains today. Lots of standing water in the drain, but we've had no rains. So the drains are not draining properly, but no blockages found.

Chris and I spoke again about contacting Don with the help we need fixing the damages done by the storm. But he nor we have heard from Don. Chris is going to the office now to talk with Don about the situation and what can be done to resolve/ fix the damage done by the city's storm drain to our home.

Chris left me some more mosquito dunks. I showed him the system I had in place so that they did not float away. However their is so much water just sitting in the drain, I am afraid its a losing battle, but I am doing what I can.

Chris says that the city is now taking bids to have the drain pipes fixed, enlarged, positioned correctly for drain run off. I would still like to see drawings of the proposed plan.

Currently the 3 drains in front of our home, don't drain, can't drain, because the run off location is higher than our street. So there is no run off in reality.

He'll be going to the office now to see if he can talk with Don about our home concerns. I sure do appreciate his willingness to reach out to Don.

I thanked Chris for keeping his word in having the storm water team clean out the drains.

Hopefully the city will be able to get the bids wrapped up soon and start work, before we get an mosquito outbreak or disease here.

Don Putman did call and left a message to set up a time to meet and see the damages caused back in September 2016. And see if his team could help. No promises.

I did call him back today in hopes to set up an appointment.

While I appreciate that Don called me back today, this case is far from being addressed or closed at this time.

1. Mosquitoes are still breeding in all 3 drains in front of our home
2. The storm drains are not draining properly. (3 of them)
3. I have not seen the plans/ drawings of how the water will be redirected or corrected.
4. Our home is not fixed.

Spoke with Don Putman today with the city of St. Petersburg's N team.
Their team is unable to assist in helping with the repairs needed.
However, Don did recommend talking with Risk Management to see if they could help.

I called Risk Management and with in a couple of minutes Eric Thomas called me back.
I was just writing a letter as he called in fact.

Eric sent me a form to fill out to start the process, to see if they would be able to assist in some way. He is also going to talk with Chris Allen about the concerns here on 9th Avenue.

No promises were made, however, this is the next step.

May 17th, 2017

9:00 am—10:45 am Wednesday 3 drain update.

Francesca and Zak came out today to clean 2 out of the 3 storm drains.
The 3rd storm drain was not cleaned because it did not go any where. It is connected to the huge parking lot across the street. The storm drain only had a small amount of leaves in it.

2 drains were dry.

The 3rd drain had standing water in it and it was cleaned out. (keep in mind that we have had no rain). So there should be no water in the storm drain now.

The storm drain in front of my home was also cleaned which had the normal debris of leaves, some small stones and shells. Then as they continued to clean the line they found a large old brick, a large 2 liter bottle and a small drinking bottle. The man hole has been covered over years ago when the road was repaved, so they could not really get a good look inside. But Francesca and Zak did a great job cleaning the drain as best as they could.

I will be meeting with Eric Thomas and Chris Allen on Friday afternoon May 19th.
I look forward to seeing the new plans to improve/fix the storm drainage concerns.
And seeing what can be done fix the damage done to my property.

May 18th at 1:30 Chris Allen and Eric Thomas come out to check on the storm drains which had just been cleaned out.
Then they talked about and looked at issues to my home caused by the high waters laying on/ pushing against my home, from the storm drain. Eric took photos of the cracks and uneven windows.

Then Bob Taylor and Don Putman came out to look at the damage and measured areas that needed to be addressed to fix the window and wall damage. I provided a copy of the window quote I had gotten from Lowes. I felt good that they came out and could plainly see the work that needed to be done. Great step in the right direction.

Eric called me back saying he has not heard from Don yet about their findings or what could be done to fix the concerns. Eric was going on vacation and he told me he would call me when he got back.

Eric did call me back on June 21st. He said he wanted to send out Serve Pro for an evaluation of the damage.

Eric called back 12:30 on June 23rd saying that he and Don could not find a permit for the enclosed garage. They could not find the permit for the original job, which my Father enclosed the garage years ago. And they could not find the permit the city would have had to pull to fix the garage in 1997 either. The city fixed the window, wood/sliding and wall of my enclosed garage due to flooding caused by the storm drains. Many of the neighbors remembered the photo in the newspaper of the city workers trying to save my home from storm drain waters. Keep in mind the last person to work and repair the wall and windows was the city. It was good enough then, but now its going to become an issue? I’ve been paying taxes for years on this enclosure. All of a sudden they went to ok, lets get this simple request done, to, oh, sorry we can’t help you and why should we if you don’t have a permit? The city would have been the last person to pull a permit for the window and wall and siding concerns in 1997, that was 20 years ago now.

Eric’s concern was that maybe the wall and windows would need to be taken down? My Father is in heaven now, he enclosed this room for me. I don’t have the money to have this done. I simply asked for help in getting the wall sealed so the water does not come in and the window replaced so I can open the windows in a safe manner.

I don’t believe the city will be able to help with the settlement of the earth, because the main issue has not been fixed. (the storm drains) Its going to continue to move my yard, uproot my plants/planters, crack my driveway and destroy my front yard, because the storm water has no place to go. Yes the enclosed room floor is cracked also, but I am not sure what the resolution would be to fix it.

Like I told Eric, I don’t believe that I am asking a lot. I’ve dealt with and have been very patient in dealing with damage done to my property (for years now) which has been caused by negligence on the city’s part to have the storm drains fixed correctly.

I am hopeful that Eric and Don will find a way to fix the damage done to my home in a timely manner.
Eric said he would look into things and get back with me next week some time.

July 31st 2017 Normal Rain, no hurricane or Tropical Storm. Normal rain..

What will happen when the hurricane or Tropical Storm does come???

8:45 street was normal.

By 9:00
Storm drain on North side of 6166 9th Avenue North was not draining.
Storm drain on South side of 6166 9th Avenue North was not draining.
Storm drain on North side of 6176 9th Avenue North is not draining.
So water begins to meet in the street.

By 9:15 water has covered 9th Avenue North.
Wrote Chris from the city to notify him of the situation. Then went back to take photos. When I did the water was coming closer to home and the waves from passing cars, trucks actually flung a large fish in front of my home.

I opened the door to take photos of the fish. Then I saw a city truck drive by, they did not stop either to move the floating trash can out of the road. I don’t blame them, very deep and dangerous on 9th.

I called police asking them to secure/ close off the road so that the waves would not go up into the home.

9:30 The police came out right away to secure the road. I am grateful. It was raining so hard they were not able to get my garbage can out of the road, nor did they try. I could not move it, it was full of water. Not to mention, dangerous to go into.

The police stayed on 9th until approximately 10:45. There was still flooding on the street, but it was more noticeable and they most likely figured anyone with brain cells would drive carefully. Of course that was not the case, and another car went by and lost part of the bottom of their car. We have it in our yard now, in case they would like it back.

Its now 11:20 the water has finally gone down. Thank goodness that this time the water did not go into our home. However the rain is starting again. However, on Saturday July 29th, all 3 yards were clean and nice looking. Kenny on the right side had his yard service men come, so his yard looked great. Our yard was cleaned, and driveway blown clean looking good and Rozanne did her yard and drive way, everything looked pretty. All 3 homes and yards looked great.

Now.. Well not so much.

We have yard bricks pushed out of place again. We paid to have this nice work done and it was destroyed, now its been moved around like logo blocks and is messy. More work for us. Debris in our driveways. And our grass, well it smells like fishy water now. Gross.

Its disappointing to say the least that we are all good citizens and do what the city ask as far as keeping our homes and yards nice. If we did not, the city would situate us and fine us. BUT… if the city causes damage to our yard or homes, they act as if nothing happened. I don’t feel this is right. Do you?

The city has known about this problem and safety concern since 1985. Its not a new issue or safety concern.

We had flood insurance last year. The last flood we had (which is this same case you are still reading about now) was caused by the storm drains not draining. The cities storm drains caused just over 11,000 dollars in damage to our home not including our pretty yard. The insurance company gave us a check for 4400. dollars and acted like they were doing us a favor. We are out 6600. dollars not including all the work we had to do. We are still trying to fix our home. By the way, because of our loss, we can no longer afford flood insurance.

We need help from the city, from the damage to our home caused by their negligence, which could have been fixed years ago. We are only asking for them to help us replace 2 windows and fix the wall, and we are getting put off. But I think in reality, maybe we should be asking the city for additional money for the damages they have caused to our home. Don’t you?

By the way if your wondering about the big fish? There was so much water in our yard and Roxanne's yard that the fish swam from yard to yard until it found its way, we hope to freedom.

I want to believe that the city cares about its people, I really do. I’ve been patient, I continue to be a good citizen and keep my yard and home looking nice and I continue to work with the city to resolve the mosquito issue in the storm drain. In fact Chris and I met last week to discuss and maintain the storm drain on the south side of 9th Avenue. And no matter what they (city) decide to do, I will continue to do what is right, because when I die and stand before God, he judges my actions, not the city's actions.

However, I will say this. IF Chris, Eric, Don or Mayor Krisemen lived in our home, I truly believe the small amount of help in fixing our home from the last flood that was caused by the city's negligence, would have been completed months ago. With out hesitation or excuses or passing the buck. As the months go on I am getting more disappointed in the city for what seems to me, I could be wrong, but I feel like they really are not taking this seriously and of course have not dealt with in a timely manner.

I am still hopeful and waiting for the city to come through.

Thank you for letting us know about the flooding. We are aware of flooding in your neighborhood and other areas throughout the city. We are working on a stormwater master plan update which includes assessing your area. While this is a multiyear plan update, the city will be attempting to address more localized flooding. Please continue to report flooding as it occurs so that we better understand the issues. This reporting should be done as a new issue each time it floods to better track the flooding events.

I am glad that you are aware and looking info fixing the problem. That is great news.

I am looking forward to seeing the engineering plans before you start work in this area.

I spoke with Eric yesterday about this reported flooding last year. He is still trying to find a way to help solve the issues that need to be fixed on our home. Hopefully soon the city will work together to get this taken care of. So far nothing has been done.

I saw Chris 2 weeks ago and he brought more mosquito dunks and I continue to work on keeping up on controlling this health concern with Chris. He is also keeping his promise to clean out drains each month.

So there is my update... ( as you can see this case is far from being closed.)

August 2017 updates.

I spoke on the phone with Eric from the city. He is looking forward to having our concerns taken care of. And of course so are we. Eric asked me to get another quote for the window. I did so and I called him back and he asked me to email the quote to him. When I called him back on September 1st to see if he received my message about the cost of the window and should we go ahead and get the window during the Labor Day sale. (last year the quote was more money, so this was a blessing if we could have gotten the same window at an lower price.)

However, his voice mail said that he was away from the office. So we did not purchase the window yet, but hopefully soon, we will be able to have this part of this concern resolved. That would be so great. Both Eric and I are looking forward to this, after all its been a year now.

September updates: 3 Storm Water Drains

After the hurricane I called the Chris from the city and left a message for him. I asked him to please put us on his list to have the storm drains cleaned.

With in days, Chris sent out Zak and Michael to check and clean the storm drains. The storm drains were clogged up/ blocked. Zak said it was a good thing I called. They had to make 3 trips to clean out the 3 drains, because the big truck that holds the water vacuumed up got full. That is a lot of standing water. Keeping in mind that this hurricane did not carry a lot of water in it. Another interesting thing was that the fish, that our neighbor, Roxanne and I tried to save, during the last heavy rain fall, well the fish is still living in our storm drain.

One good thing has changed since 1984. Because of my report to See Click and Fix, the only saving grace has been that Chris from the city kept his word and has been working with me, in being sure that in 2017 that the 3 storm drains would be cleaned out on a regular basis. If Chris had not kept his word we might have flooded again.

Thank you to Chris and his team of hard working men and women. With out you doing your part, we truly believe that we would have been flooded again. Thank you so much.

October Updates: Window Update

After the hurricane I tried reaching Eric again, several times and he also kept trying to contact us. Basically playing phone tag. So I left message asking for him to email me this way, we could get the ball moving again on picking up were we left off, the windows.

Keep in mind, we have been working with the city now for over a year…. And our last conversation Eric asked for us to get a price quote on the windows so we could get this part of the concern resolved.

Here are my thoughts about his letter.

There has been over whelming evidence since 1984 of the flooding issues at this location.

Negligence is that the storm drain issues were brought to the attention of the city in the early 1980’s, to this date, the city has not fixed or taken seriously this concern. I have called for years, practically begging for help to have this dangerous concern fixed. Then in 1997 the city helped me fix some damages that kept reoccurring due to the known issue and concern of the 3 storm drains not working correctly.

The city helped fix our home due to the 3 storm drains back in 1997, which included damages to the driveway, and settling of the house and windows. The same wall and windows that they fixed in 1997, is the same wall/windows that have been effected this time. During this storm the driveway even settled causing the driveway that the city put actually cracked in several places, leading right into, threw our home. Effecting the same wall, windows.

Keep in mind folks that we suffered a loss of over 10,000. (combined of yard, home, person property) of damages to our home and yard due to the city's 3 storm drains. Our insurance covered only 4,800.00 of this loss. Eric from the city is aware of this, in fact he had to have a copy of this insurance paper work before he would even consider to help us.

So after a year of working with the city, we are back to square one. No closer to fixing the problem.
I really want to believe that our city is better then that. Don’t you? Talk about negligence.

Updates for December 5th, 2017

Thank you to Chris for sending out the storm team to check and maintain the storm drains as promised. I appreciate Chris, since he is the only person so far that has kept his word. There is a lot to be said about a man by his character meaning his words and action. So thank you for being a man of your word Chris. You are appreciated. Thank you.

Jim and Francesca our last storm drain team have retired now they will be missed.
However it was a pleasure to meet Chris and Mike who came out to clean the storm drain.
We have not had rain in over a month. However, the drains are full of water and mosquitoes.
We did not get to see the big fish. I hope he got out safely.

I understand that the updates needed which could possibility resolve the on going flooding issues of the storm drains, is currently out for bid. However I never got to see the plans or make suggestions, even though my house has been effected since I moved in 33 years ago. Experience is a good teacher. I am looking forward to seeing the plans. I am hopeful that this will resolve the flooding issues, health concerns and dangers that currently exist. That would be great news for many people in our community.

Its does not however address, fix or make right the damages done to my home. But it is hope and a step in the right direction.

July 5th, 2018 Updates.

We just wanted to say thank you to Chris Allen. We called him this week. He continues to keep our storm drain clean and today July 5th he brought by the mosquito dunks for the storm water drain. With all the rain we have been having we will really have to keep on top of things, so we don't have mosquitoes carrying us away.

We understand that bids were put in to fix/change the drainage on 9th Avenue. However, I have not met with or seen any signs of change happening. I look forward to meeting with the department handling this. It maybe that the city is waiting for all the bids to come back in. It has been over 6 months now, so hopefully we will see or hear something soon, as to what will be done. I look forward to meeting or talking with Sam on this in the very near future.

Just a FYI for those other neighbors who are dealing with flooding issues & mosquitoes. Have you noticed that since Wawa's finished their construction, that the ditch in front of the shooting range is flooding faster now and staying full for extra days? The water has no were to go. And can you say mosquitoes? This is only going to compound the problems we already have.

NOW... add to that the buildings that will be added to the property on 9th Avenue and 66th Street. We don't even want to think about that. We don't believe it will be a simple fix.

We've been dealing with flooding since 1983. Its no secret that there is a safety concern that has been untreated, unattended or fixed all these years. We were hoping that Mayor Rick, being the upright man he is and he lives less than 2 minutes away he could at least help or look into this concern. He would have to be blind not to see it, since he drives on the same road we live on.

** Note I called the Mayor’s office, several times but they do not answer the phone and if you email, they do not email back. It’s unfortunate, however, even though the Mayor himself, has all the information on this case, (or he should since I personally gave a folder to his wife). which contained all the information on this matter. I have not heard from him or any one from his office to make things right. We understand that he is super busy with his daily work.

We have no plans to close this case until the city makes things right. Its the least they can do after all the years of damage to our property and home. 35 years we've been dealing with this. Its time folks, would you agree?

Carlos Frey from Storm water Engineering called today. He and Chris Allen will have the storm drain team come out and clean out the 3 storm drains in front of the house. This will be nice, since its hurricane season and we don’t know how much water is on its way.

Carlos and I hope to meet in a couple of weeks. In the mean time Carlos will have a team come out and check the storm drain lines. Then next week they plan to start to lower/dig up another 6 inches at Eagle Crest Lake in hopes that it will allow more water to be held during the rainy season. This will help everyone in Eagle Crest. So thank you Carlos for that.

We also spoke some about safety concerns on 9th Avenue in front of the shooting range. Last week the small pond filled up very quickly, over filled in fact for days. Its filled so much in fact that at night the water in the pond was level with the road and looked like a part of the road. This is not good. Its been this way now, since WaWa finished its construction. * note this was not a heavy rain either, small storm, everyday weather here in our area. We can’t imagine how bad it will be when the big storms come.

July 18th Wednesday:

9:00 Mario and George from Storm water came out this morning to check for any blockage in the lines.

They had everything set up to go and the smaller line had a hole in it, so Mario changed out the line, then they were able to start again. They cleaned until the truck was full. Mario had to go unload the water, then come back. After returning, they began checked 9th to 9th going south/north. Everything looked great. We did get to see a live shrimp. But nothing else. It’s the best its looked in many years. Most likely due to the fact the Chris Allen has been keeping his word and having the lines checked and cleaned every couple of months.

Then Mario and George processed to check the line from 9th to 8th going north/ south. At 10:20 the line could go no more. The Red Rocket end went out 377 feet. George went to check to verify if the end of the Red Rocket reached its destination and it had. Everything looked clean there.

At 11:00 am the left to work from 8th and check the lines running west/east on 8th.

Thank you Mario and George for coming out today, they made a good team and we appreciate the work they do to keep our storm drains working smoothly.

June 28th, 2019. The water is so high just from the first 15 minutes of rain that the streets drain holes are full. All of 9th Avenue in front of our home, Rozannes home and Kenny & Regan is under water, anyone have a canoe we can use?
After 30 minutes of rain which was at 5:30 our planters which are on our property well they are floating in the road and water is coming up our driveway.
We pray that no one gets hurt, several cars and large trucks hit the water fast, not seeing and almost collided. or landed in our yard/side.

I hope that the city can do something soon to correct this issue.

Its now 5:45 and the flood waters/ drain waters are 1/2 up my driveway.

This is after only a 45 minute rain. What is going to happen when it rains for several days?

15-20 minutes is all it takes to flood our street. Drivers beware its unsafe on 9th Avenue North
Its going get worse as they continue to build on 9th Avenue North and 66 Street.

Water has no were to go. LOL. 9th Avenue North continues to flood, while the drainage canal along the school and mall remain empty.? Don't figure?

Does anyone else see a problem here?
The city has money for events, but not for necessities?

If you or I receive a notice from the city to fix something, safe or unsafe,
The city gives you *(30 days)* to correct that issue that they brought to your attention.
If you don’t fix the problem you are fined.

However,
I have notified the city of this unsafe condition,
I have been advocating for flooding safety for 9th Avenue North for over *( 30 years)*,
The problem is not fixed… WHY???

I have called, emailed and written the city using regular mail and emails, politely asking for their help. The last few years I have been posting concerns about this same issue on See Click and Fix, because I was asked to handle it in this manner, by the city itself.
I’ve brought this flooding concern now for over 30 years with documentation of the safety concerns I have. The safety of both people and property.
And yet, nothing has been done. WHY?

Just a couple of years ago, I personally suffered property damage in access of 11,000.00 dollars and the insurance only covered a little over 4,000.00. This is only one incident.
To many times now, when it rains, even the slightest rain, flooding occurs. The problem is getting worse not better.

I have to pick up the expense of time and money to clean up the after math, of the flooding. Which in essence is being caused by neglect on the city’s part. Should I send them a bill? Or many bills now, since the flooding seems to be increasing?? IF yes, I would a rich woman. LOL.

Mayor Kriseman truly want to believe that you still care for our city.
Where are you? We need help.

Please don’t wait until something worse happens and then say on T.V. you did not know.
God sees everything you do. And in this case things you have not done. You have the power to make the difference and make our city safer.

Please send a little less money on extra fun things/events and concentrate on the basic needs and safety of the people who count on you and call you their mayor.

At this time: the only person I have worked with and that seems to care is Chris from Storm Water. We have been working together now for quite some time. He is doing 2 things to control additional problems caused by the storm drain or lack of storm drain issues and flooding.

1. He provides the mosquito dunks, which I put out to try to control the waters that get trapped in the drain. Funny thing, water seems to be in the drains even when we have no rain. Chris just brought more mosquito dunks to me last week.

2. And Chris has his team, His team is great by the way, and the storm drain team uses their huge truck to keep all 3 drains in front of our house clean. Which is great, but it’s not solving the problems

This has been helpful in maintaining additional problems but does not FIX the problem.

Some of the MAIN things that need to be fixed are..
1. The drains cannot accommodate rain that way it should. They are small and old
2. The pipes no matter how large or small need to have a place to drain to. The little water area in front of the college can't hold it all.
3. Keeping the drain clean, is great, but the canal that was supposed to help some of the drain problems, well it remains empty.??Just not hooked up correctly to the parking lot.
4. Mall parking lot water floods into the street, which just adds tons more water to the system.

So as you can see, its a hold lot of issues that need to be worked out. It seems to me that after 3o years of working on this, seems like maybe soon they could find an answer and then follow though to fix it.?

I hope they don't wait until the new 11 acre area gets built on 9th Avenue North and 66st Street.
That’s going to be a nightmare. I see they are bringing truckloads of dirt in. Guess what folks, the people that own houses to the west side of us, you guessed it, the flooding will start effecting your homes, soon enough. The next 11 acres will be built up, the water still has to go somewhere. Well, welcome to my world.

Why hasn't this been fixed yet? Instead of building those expensive housing projects downtown, why haven't you invested in the infrastructure that affects this area? This is what penny for Pinellas should be used for and the tourists taxes.
