I appreciate you taking the time to write back, but I don't think your response actually addressed the issue. Basically, you told me that I'm required to be at my car at 8 am on a Saturday and then again at 1 pm or else have my car ticketed and towed. I was trying to explain that for some people this is a very difficult requirement, especially on such short notice. This includes people who may work on Saturdays, attend school on Saturdays, celebrate the Sabbath on Saturdays, or have family obligations where they cannot drop everything to be there at exactly 8 am or exactly 1 pm. That's why I proposed other solutions such as only closing a few blocks at a time and/or giving more advanced notice. Another solution may be to allow opposite side parking for the 24 hours before and after - this would allow people who cannot be there at exactly the specified times required by the civic association to still move their cars. As far as notice, having an event "every year" still doesn't help me plan if I will need to take off from work or another commitment. If the date really is known so far in advance, perhaps it should be provided to those who buy a Zone 4 Permit when they buy it so they will know when it is or is not valid.

hi i'm from the wash west civic, an all-volunteer organization, and wanted to comment. we understand that this IS a hardship and we work like mad to notify everyone via signs, radio, news, etc., but haven't found a way to make it foolproof. hopefully the cleaned up streets will help allay some of the inconvenience...it was done thanks to the work of dozens and dozens of volunteers who hung (and then removed) signs, flyered cars, and were out there sweeping for hours. your suggestion is a good one but we could only WISH to get that kind of communication from the ppa!
