The City of Oakland Call Center has received this issue. It is registered as service request #693887. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

The correct address for this sinking patch directly in front of our driveway is 6400 Chabot rd. We have to deal with it several times each day. This is not a "normal" pothole due to wear and tear; Chabot rd. was recently repaved, and is otherwise smooth as glass for the first time in decades. It was from a PG&E gas valve repair, and they said that a permanent repair would happen within in 2-4 weeks, i.e., by early Nov. Beyond our daily inconvenience, someone, either PG&E or Public Works need to do a permanent repair before it spreads further, and begins to degrade the newly repaved street.
PG&E temporary patch in Oct '16; finally repaired in April "17.....Was told originally that it would be fixed within 6 weeks; turned out to be over 6 months! It was directly in front of our garage, so we had to navigate the sink hole at least twice every single day!
