Description

Hello,

There are many huge holes and small holes all along Thornhill Drive from Hwy 13 to Merriewood Drive. Cars are swerving to avoid them and it's creating a very dangerous situation, especially given that it's near an elementary school.

Additionally, all along the south side of Thornhill Drive from Hw 13 to the school are parking spots that are frequently used by parents parking and walking their kids to school. There are deep trenches near the stores that cars get trapped in and it's very dangerous.

The whole stretch of road needs to be repaved.

The City of Oakland Call Center has received this issue. It is registered as service request #696125. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Especially dangerous 2' x 2' hole about 4-5' deep just over a blind crest in the westbound lane just after Merriewood.

These are mostly patches that are sinking again. This BS cheap patching Oakland continues to do is not addressing the issue that is causing the patches to continue to sink shortly after being patched.

Time for Oakland to start spending on streets and put something off for a while. The city us falling apart.

Thornhill is on the City three-year 2019-2022 repave plan. However, it is no known yet in what year it will be repaved. The Councilmember is pushing OakDOT very hard to have the repave done in 2019. In the interim, OakDOT needs to regularly monitor Thornhill and use some of the 7 million available city-wide over the next several months to fill in Thornhill potholes until ther street is repaved.

Thank you- this stretch of road is in front of Thornhill Elementary School, Smiles Preschool, and a church, so it's heavily trafficked by families and young kids. Summertime would be perfect for repaving when school isn't in session! We also continue to have issues with our crosswalks, where one kid was hit a few weeks ago by a Fedex truck. Please bump up this area of Oakland to the near top of your list. Thanks!

This is still a nightmare. I know there is major construction happening, but the potholes on Thornhill in the one block between Moraga and Mountain are beyond ridiculous. We are all swerving. Please finish this project!!!!!!!
