This letter serves to request your consideration for the placement of lighting in our court, namely Kane ct.
We reside at 293 Kane Ct in West Hempstead which is a side street/court off of Paulie drive. On the left side of Paulie drive there are streetlights but our court does not benefit from them and since we don't have any in the court, we experience extreme darkness at night. Coming out of the car with for example groceries and especially our newborn is a hassle and dangerous since the lighting is so poor and therefor we have to be extra careful. For us it's more a matter of safety and security rather than convenience.
We have a synagogue next to us with a large backyard which is blocked by tall bushlike trees and has little to no lighting.
There is a gate in the court that leads to the synagogue from the court and so if the gate is left unlocked (which is primarily Fri and Sat) anyone can go through there. It is closed by a lock and chain.
Surveilling is quite difficult in these dark conditions.
It is for these reasons that we humbly request lighting in our court.
We want to live safe, comfortable and at ease.
We've already had 3 young men hop the fence in the daytime. It is dangerous here.
