Deskripsyon
Many of the lights for the Carrolton branch of the Canal Street Streetcar line stay on in the daylight. This is wasteful in electricity, money, and for its contribution to the warming climate.
From where I took the accompanying picture one can see about a dozen sets of lights on. (One additional light is peeking through the palm tree in the photo.) The picture was taken at 2pm!
This kind of waste can accumulate to very significant amounts, and I'm willing to bet that this is not the only place this is happening.

I just called New Orleans Public Works and the receptionist told me that they don't do email. (Which explains the lack of response).
John, do you happen to know the email address of any local elected official for the area? If we could set up a watch area for them, they might be willing to take on the role of arbiter between the public in the 21st century and the DPW in the 20th century.
Once we get an elected official clued into the convenience of civic engagement in the Internet Age, we will have much more leverage to try to get DPW to adopt email.
