Billy Bob, you don't have to live with it. My neighbor was killed trying to cross MLK. You didn't have to see the pool of dark blood coming out of her head. She was hit so hard she came out of here shoes. Collisions happen frequently within these few blocks and cars rarely slowdown for the crossing signal. You need to get a life.

Mike, are we do for a traffic survey and how fast was the fastest vehicle going last round? Seriously, the vehicles are going faster and faster. A timed signal at 16th or somewhere in the middle would be red for speeders and green for people doing the limit thus solving the problem. it would also give people of Euclid a safer crossing than the yellow flashing lights at 16th. They are rarely observed, esp in the evening when people get home and try to walk their dogs at the park. Can you remove my address from this post?

Police worked this area this morning from 0630 hrs to 0840 hrs. During this time they issued 9 citations related to speed violations. They will keep it in the rotation for future enforcement.

I noticed how nice the traffic has been going by today. The cars just making a light Shhhh shound and not the WHA-WHA sound and the concussion wave of air hitting the buildings makes. Awesome, thanks. Can you remove the address off of this or shift it to 15th and MLK??

Yeah, Thanks Mike and SPPD for today's action. This morning is really nice, it won't last though. Tonight they will be zooming by again. I hope that Company Clerk gets some relief soon.

MLK is really becoming a fast conduit for people getting in and out of downtown. Timed lights are a fantastic way of encouraging traffic to flow at the speed limit. It would be nice if there was signage along the streets with timed lights indicating that the lights are timed to the speed limit. I told one person who kept hitting the red lights to go the speed limit and they will hit every green light. They smiled and said thanks a lot, they didn't know.

Not taking aby sides but based on the initial conplaint. Someone spoke about how they can tell thier speeding from the gap between the vehicles that arent apeeding and the ones that are, when coning off a light i usually get a gap of about 3 car lengths or more in the first few blocks if im in front, mostly that gap comes from a person paying a greater amount of attention to the light as well as a faster accelerator than the rest, happens to ne ob a daily basis even tho im never speeding.

Too many out there today that when light changes do nothing or they barely accelerate like they ate backing out of a garage.

I am not saying that no one speeds at that spot as i dont travel it enough, just saw you describing what i usually see when im in front at a light

Joe, for a trained eye it is easy to tell IF a vehicle is speeding not just by the gap it leaves taking off from a traffic light but also by sound and visual reference to physical objects in the background. And I am very familiar with those 'special' people that will see a traffic light turn green and it seems as though they count to 5 before moving. These people can be in front of you or behind you at a traffic light. I am sure you have seen them as well.

Joe, it is OBVIOUS when someone is going highway speed and someone is going 35-45mph. If you can't look at a vehicle and see that a car is coming at you really fast while others are coming at a normal speed, there is a problem.
I tell you what, go to MLK and 16th north sometime and try to cross the road on foot, esp early evening after rush hour, or in the morning when you want to walk the dog etc. Some of these people would get tickets on the highway. I think this is why the city won't release the stats on how fast cars are actually going. Company Clerk is also having the same problem on the south side.
10 over is no problem in my opinion, the 20, 30, and 40 over are a problem. And believe me, they are happening because i see them out my kitchen window or when we want to walk to the Dairy Inn. It is down right dangerous crossing MLK on foot, especially in the provided crosswalk with flashing lights.
