What is going on? Can hardly wait for my Christmas guests to arrive and ask "What is that smell, can't the city do something about that?" Is it possible to have an escrow account set up, where the water and sewage bills are paid into, and the funds aren't released to the city until this issue is resolved? The South Side of Saline is getting to be known as the "Stinky Side."
I agree. It has gotten worse over the past year. I know for a fact that they have "odor scrubbers." I called the plant and complained and they said they would turn them on. He said that they don't like to turn them on because it's " expensive." Turn them on and leave them on!
In years past, prior to the increase in odor complaints, the odor scrubbers were kept off-line as they were not needed; typically the cooler temperatures result in less odor. However, as a result of the increased odors, the odor scrubbers at the WWTP have been on-line non-stop for the last year or better, except for a few days for maintenance purposes.
The only duplication is the fact that problem has been present for years and has reached the point in the past year that residents in the affected neighborhoods have had enough, it is effecting our quality of life and the reputation of our subdivisions.

I sincerely doubt that Diskell, who was mayor when this issue first started, or Ping, who was on council at the same time aren't aware of the problem. But you sir, are attempting to minimize an issue that is a real problem. All of the information given is widely available and known. Thanks for being really annoying! Have a great day!
Thank you for reporting this issue, we logged it at the time and are closing out older issues remaining open. If you smell odor you believe is coming from the plant, please open a new issue and let us know. You may also reach out to Water Director Steve Wyzgoski directly at swyzgoski@cityofsaline.org Thanks.
