We did a site survey and found the sight distance around the corner to be adequate, however we do acknowledge that the occasional speeding vehicle can make it difficult. The city has plans to add a bike lane buffer on this stretch of Garden View Rd that should help your issue in a couple of ways. First, it will push traffic to drive closer to the centerline, so they will be seen earlier and allow more room to creep out for extra visibility. Also, it will effectively narrow the travel lanes on Garden View, which has been shown to reduce speeds. A stop sign or speed bump would not be warranted here as each of these solutions will cause other issues.

Thank you for the reply. I understand, but putting a bike lane will not help at the moment. Would you consider installing a mirror across the street from Lotus Blossom to facilitate cars driving onto Garden View to determine whether cars are coming Westbound? Happy to ask the neighbors to pitch in if needed.

I apologize but a mirror is not an approved traffic control device per the CA MUTCD. The City attorney has previously told us that we cannot install these.
