Description

About a year ago, the posted speed limit on NC 73 W at Blythe Landing was increased to 55 mph from 45 mph. If you are traveling NC 73 going east and pass Beatties Ford Road, there is a small street, Brown Mill Road that has a stop sign at NC 73. This is right in front of the Bed & Biscuit doggie day care. There is no speed limit sign posted at that intersection on NC 73, so drivers are constantly pulling out in front of traffic that is doing the 55 mph speed limit. I have contacted the DOT repeatedly about this problem, and requested they post the 55 mph speed limit sign right at that intersection, hoping drivers will realize that oncoming traffic is traveling 55 mph. The only speed limit sign posted is in front of the Exxon gas station, but Brown Mill Road is passed that point. The next sign is at Blythe Landing, and is reduced to 45 mph. My last response from DOT was dated 2/14/10 and it was from scole@ncdot.gov. His response was they were looking in to it. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
