No resolution has been described so this is still an open issue. Just because we have had no deaths in the last 8 years since the slippery expansion joints were installed on new bridge does not mean that we have been lucky. This is seriously slippery stupidly slippery. Horrible!

Thank you for writing in and inquiring about this issue. We have a bridge rehabilitation project scheduled to begin in April for the Broadway Bridges that will place an epoxy/sand coating on these expansion joint cover plates that will create a surface similar to sand paper. This will greatly reduce and/or eliminate the slipperiness of these areas. We are also planning to install some slip resistant tape on these areas now to minimize this problem until we can install our permanent repair later this year. Thank you for inquiring.
