The 480 Main Street apartment complex assigns and charges residents for parking spaces that are too small to meet City of Malden zoning requirements for residential parking:
"for all other uses, eight and one/half (8 ½ ) feet in width by seventeen (17) feet in length with seven and one-half (7 ½) feet in vertical clearance;"
Numerous spaces (especially towards the back of the garage) do not meet the width requirement or are obstructed by pillars or piping. This potentially means that the building does not have the correct number of spaces for the number of residences it contains. Building management has been unresponsive about the issue.
