Description

I had a property manager in my area contact me about an elderly couple [in their 80's] that reside in the Pembroke Road area. They stated that the apartment complex does not have a name but next to where they reside is a complex named Pines Village. Apparently they have the same owner. They were complaining that the ceiling is leaking in every room in their apartment and that portions of the ceiling have also fallen down in various rooms. They have mold and mildew on the walls, baseboards and ceilings.

When they try to contact the landlord they don’t receive any calls back. I was told that there is a man that comes to collect the rent from them who pushes responsibility to the "owner", but from what the tenant told me, she suspects the man who is collecting the rent is actually the owner who just doesn't want to be bothered with anything outside of collecting money.

Is there any way that we can have Code Enforcement, maybe even Elderly Services, get involved to help this family out? No one should have to live in such conditions, especially our elderly. What can they do? I’ve listed the residents information down below. Is there anything that can be done?

I've contacted Hollywood Code Enforcement and they've stated that this is Pembroke Pines Zoning.
