Description

When the city approves a permit for a new house to be built, shouldn't the city REQUIRE the builder to install the piers for the house by some method other than pounding these piers into the ground. Houses here are mere feet from each other and the potential for damage to surrounding homes - causing cracks, or worse - is obvious. Our house is on another street and the whole house shakes with every stroke pounded - - several times a minute. Surely, there are ways for the supporting piers to be installed by the builder -such as auguring instead of pounding. Why isn't this required by the city?
This just started and by the time all the piers are driven in, lots of damage can be caused to multiple houses. Why does the city allow this?
