This stretch of Fountain Street is completely backed up every morning to Lakeview Terrace. It's unclear if this is two lanes or a shoulder, and it is treated as two lanes by many drivers in an attempt to ease congestion. The fact that there are two lights at the bottom of the hill at Fountain and Vista makes this appear to be two driving lanes. This light should probably be made much longer to prevent this constant backup.

One other thing I should mention is that the shoulder/second lane here is not fully plowed to the curb after heavy snow, so this has only made the congestion worse.

Following up to this issue as there are now multiple duplicate reported issues for this congestion and use of shoulder. Can the city send someone to observe this stretch of road between 745-9am?

I agree with making this light last longer. This intersection is a mess. I submitted an issue requesting a longer light earlier in the year and the city disagreed with me.

The other day, if I wasn’t anticipating the car driving straight from the shoulder “lane” past Vista, I would have turned right into Vista and been slammed by the car.
Cars drive straight through the intersection from the shoulder all the time. It’s not just an occasional thing; it happens every single time I’m at that light.
The only way to safely turn right at this intersection is to drive illegally.
