Description
With our street being so narrow and having cars parked on both sides, I feel that 25 MPH is way too fast for our residential street. This is also taking in to consideration that our street is not a major route and only a half loop. 15 MPH is more than reasonable.

Traffic Engineering staff investigated this concern and there is no history of crashes along this road to justify reducing the speed limit. Also, the posted speed limit of 25 mph is the minimum enforceable speed limit on public roadways. Parked vehicles along a residential street actually act as a traffic calming measure to reduce speeding. Mr. McInnis can contact our Traffic Engineering staff to initiate the Traffic Calming Program along this road if speeding continues to be a problem. They can be reached at 757-385-4131. We also have a brochure available explaining the Traffic Calming Program. If he would like to request a copy or have any additional questions, I would be happy to assist.
