Joslyn Rd. is in dire need of major repairs between Walton Blvd & Collier Rd. For years all the city would do is fill in the craters with a shovel full of asphalt. The first rain or snow would cause the asphalt to open back up again.

We want this road fixed too. However, we want many of the other deteriorating roads in Oakland County fixed as well. The problem is the funding available to fix roads (derived from the gas tax and vehicle registration fees -- not from your property taxes) has been decreasing for years, while the cost of road maintenance continues to rise. That means every year we can fix fewer and fewer roads, and more and more roads deteriorate. Really want this road fixed? Help us convince our state legislators to increase road funding! So far, they have been unwilling to do anything to address Michigan's growing road-funding crisis. According to the US Census Beurea, Michigan has been in the bottom 10 states in the nation in per capita state and local road funding for at least 45 years. In other words, the residents of most other states have been paying more to maintain their roads than we have in Michigan. Bottom line? You get what you pay for.

Josyln needs to be repaved from MLK to Walton, and done right instead of a 5 yr patch job. It also needs to have large patches north of Walton to Collier patched with concrete instead of blacktop on concrete, there is 3 real bad areas in this stretch that expand across all 5 lanes.

I too, cannot figure out why Baldwin Rd. was done before Joslyn Rd. Apparently, the Council person from that district didn't fight hard enough. I hope that Council person has to drive over the craters everyday like I do!

Between Walton and Collier? Really.........Really!!! Have you tried driving further south of Walton on Joslyn? OMG What a mess. This road has been trashed for the last 15 years............(as long as I have been working in Pontiac.) Enough is enough..........Maybe G.M. can pitch in. After all it was their trucks that tore the roads up anyway. (south blvd @ centerpoint was the same way) Thanx G.M.

For those Posting Here. I would say maybe you should be more active in your community you would know the City has a site that you can report items like this and they do reply. The Contract was already awarded and Road Construction begins soon. We Thank the DPS for doing a great job.

I am not going to become more active in a community that doesn't even respond to my emergency needs with fire and rescue. I can't even send my kids to school in my town cuz the schools are so bad. I drive my daughters 20 minutes just so they can get a quality education. I totally agree that GM should help pay for the repairs. As their semis were a major contributor to the condition of my street. I live right off Joslyn by the GM factory. It is a wreck. I already pay an additional 1% of my income to this stupid city in tax every year. Where does all this additional revenue go?

I live just off of Joslyn between Walton and Collier. I have to drive south of Walton to get to work every day. It feels like I am driving over speedbumps! Also, the semi-trucks that use the road to access I-75 are so loud when they go over the rough road. I wish I would have known that the house I live in (even though it is further down on a side street) was located on a major truck route! Please fix this noisy road!

Someone earlier commented about Baldwin rd getting fixed first. I thought the same thing while driving through that construction 2 years ago. Josyln was worse and went neglected, whats up with that? Some parts of the pavement are fine, if they at least tore up sections and redid them that could hold up for years!

To Wolverine:

I posted this issue because we now have a "See, Click, Fix" as another way of voicing our opinions. I've been a lifetime Pontiac resident for over 50+ years. It doesn't matter if you are active in the community or not to be able have a voice. My voice is having to pay some of the highest taxes in Pontiac and have to put up with the abuse to my vehicles as well as others do. I am aware of the Cities web site to report issues such as this, and have used it in the past. I have taken photos and made phone calls.
The Road Commission did a very good job in responding to this issue. I was surprised at the number of people who shared the same concerns. Thanks to the 31 others who share the same view as I presented.
