Fully agree!! Both towns Manalapan and Marlboro - use this ridiculous ( if not to say criminal) loophole and speed trap to add to towns budget.

Sure, bud. And what is your position in Manalapan Township Municipal office? This is a speed trap, clear and simple, which add money to Manalapan Budget. So do not give us your lame excuses and hide behind fake ID.

I agree with Blackwidow and others about this speed trap set up by Manalapan. I take this road several times a day, and houses on this road both in Manalapan and Marlboro have driveways facing the road. Everything is the same, except speed limit set by two Towns.

Obviously this website is a complete waste of time. One can post as many complaints or comments as he/she/it wants, but nothing ever being done! Might as well talk to the hand!

Crazy Eddie said it best. Besides, the speed limit is posted clearly. Slow down! There is no loophole or crooked government, just enforcement and a big supply of speeders. If someone is behind you "pushing", pull over and let 'em fly by. It really is a short stretch through a neighborhood. State law mandates 25 MPH in a residential area, that is basic driving knowledge, NO EXCUSES. If you feel that strongly about it why haven't you taken the issue up with the town and requested an increase in speed limit?

Manalapan needs to do more to rein in the speeders all over town. Young drivers in particular turn a blind eye to speed limits; push hard and flip you the bird even if you are doing 5mph over the limit. It's ridiculous. Read the story in today's APP in which a car crashed into a house with such force to do 100k worth of damage. Speeding had everything to do with that accident and a passenger in the car, a mere 18, is dead as a result. There are countless stories of deaths due to speeding; most memorable in Freehold a couple of years ago.

You know, people, I am sick and tired of Manalapan Police Officials and Corrupt City employees pretending to be just another posters on this website and try to downplay this speed trap. The question is why Marlboro set speed limit at 35, but Malanapan at 25 on the same road? This is residential road from the beginning to end, but with 2 DIFFERENT SPEED LIMITS!!! Can anyone from Marlboro answer this question? May be Marlboro City People are more reasonable and not trying to steal more money from local drivers? And do not give us this nonsense about Young People driving fast and motor vehicle death in Freehold a while. This is not the issue here. The issue here - Speed Trap, which must be removed ( if anyone reading this post). End of story.

Why is it that when someone supports a law they are accused of being a cop or government official? And how can you call it a speed trap when you KNOW it's there? . Or maybe you are one of those punk drivers who thinks you own the road. Betcha you're one of those jerks who flies through stop signs and makes right turns when a sign is posted no right turn on red light.

I always obey the law, and I drive for 25 years without any moving violations. How many tickets do you have? What is the matter, Mr. Cop, are you afraid that removing this speed will reduce your bloated salary and benefits? I got news for you, it is people who set the laws not cops and not Town Bureaucrats. I'm not a cop nor a government official and you need to do some research. The people do NOT set the laws, the legislators do. Police simply enforce the law....something with which you clearly have a problem. It seems to me from your posts on this subject it is YOU who has a problem with the law therefore take you own advice and move away. That so called speed trap has been there for the 20 years I have lived in this town. It is well known to everyone who lives in the area and travels on that road every day. The problem is that when people get caught, it's always someone else's fault, never their own. The fact that you don't have any moving violations doesn't mean you are a careful driver, it just means you haven't been caught. If in fact you were a careful driver you wouldn't have a problem with the so called speed trap.

I happen to be an emergency room health care provider and I see the multiple crunches brought into the area hospital on a daily basis. Most of the time, those most severely injured are victims of the jerks who blow through stops signs, are speeding excessively or are drunk. How many more people need to be maimed or die because of the jerks who think the law doesn't apply to them?

Hey Manalapan Man, I think you are going too far in your posts and you need to chill a little bit, may be take some of the medicines available from emergency room health care place, where you claim to work. I drive there every day and this road is a speed trap. In fact, it is listed as speed trap online - check it out. NJ argus and other are 100% right - we live in this area, and we pay taxes and we all want respect from local police, not harassment. There are those who speed, blow stop signs and drive drunk, and it can not be tolerated, and these people must be caught and punished. However, we are talking about this particular road, and we hope that our message will reach proper authorities ( and most likely it will not). Nonetheless, we express our honest opinion here, and if you are disagree, that fine, but do not call improper names to other posters for speaking their mind.

It's not really hard to understand that the Levitt built houses in Manalapan were built at a time when just down the road in Marlboro it was completely rural. So the speed limit was lowered to a residential area speed limit for this development because it is a neighborhood which has houses close to the road and little kiddies playing on the sidewalk that need protection from people who drive to fast. The Marlboro portion doesn't have a development fronting this road, it has individually built houses.

OK so you know there is heavy enforcement there, so just drive legally, it's that simple. Or should everyone be able get away with whatever they want? Do you think that the people living on that stretch of road might be complaining? I would say so.

Hey Frank, in defense of NJ Argus- when you get a nice speeding ticket in Manalapan section of this road ( + a few extra points on your license) doing 30 mph a few feet away from 35 mph zone, I hope you will be smiling and send a postcard to all of us, after you send your payment to Manalapan Township. I am not a nasty person, but in your case I make an exception - I wish you to get as many tickets as possible in this area, so that you can appreciate other people efforts to promote fairness and justice.

I used to live in Monmouth Heights off of Ryan Rd. The road is heavily monitored. If you are familiar with the area, you know that it is a place to make sure that you are doing the speed limit (25), just like when you drive into Englishtown.

Here's an idea.... do the speed limit and you wont have to deal with getting pulled over. Jacka$$es!

Why is it that when people drive over the speed limit and get ticketed for it, it's call police harrassment?

They KNOW this stretch of road is monitored yet they roll the dice and refuse to slow down then blame everyone else for their stupidity.

Hey Kevin (NJ Argus), Thanks for the well wishes, but I don't speed through neighborhoods that have signage stating that it is a target enforcement area with mandatory court appearance (that's the dead giveaway that there will be a cop running radar in case you can't use your reasoning skills to come up with that on your own). Where is your sense of "fairness and justice" for the people who live on that street and have to deal with drivers who speed through their neighborhood dangerously? What about them??

There is more than one point of view when it comes to speeding and cops, try to see that. I think I've done a good job of explaining the reason for the speed limit difference and no one seems to care that it is completely valid but apparently just inconvenient for them. That is because they need to rush to the traffic light at route 9.

BTW Kevin, I am going to write a letter to Manalapan requesting that they lower the speed limit to 15MPH and/or install mid block stops sign due to the high numbers of speeders, just because of you. Hmmm... a series of speed humps might be better.

I travel 30 mph without a problem.

End of story Manalapan Police, Court Etc.. are run by corrupt people who try to extort money from residents and visitors to fill their pockets!!!!
