Description

Almost a day after the snowstorm ended, Whitney Avenue, the main North-South street in the city, has STILL not been cleared and it is still covered with several inches of snow and ice and slush. Why aren't there plows out there NOW (at 2:30 PM) clearing the street? Who is responsible for supervising snow clearance in the winter? They seem to be either absent or incompetent.

Snow clearance in New Haven is always very poor in the winter, but this might be even poorer than usual. Every winter when you drive down Whitney Avenue from Hamden after a snowstorm, the streets have been nicely cleared in Hamden, but they are still covered with snow as soon as you cross the in New Haven line. The surrounding towns always do a much better job of snow clearance than New Haven. Why?
