I am, almost, daily hitting my brakes and honking my horn at the the Layton Parkway northbound onramp to I-15, for those who are not yielding at this junction.

This is east bound Layton Parkway turning onto northbound I-15. Drivers are not yielding when traveling west bound Layton Parkway turning onto northbound I-15.

Once a again I was nearly involved in an accident as the yield sign is being ignored. Why is this not being addressed !

In my opinion they have the right of way. It has always been law that you yield to the vehicle on your Right. Its no different than when driving in the Right lane on the interstate and traffic is entering the interstate, you adjust your speed to allow merging traffic to safely enter your lane of traffic.

Well Earl the yield sign is on the right and so the law states you yield to on coming traffic. How about you obey the traffic laws and leave your personal opinion out of it. If you want to keep ignoring the sign be my guest. I would love for you to run into the side of my car because you felt like in your opinion you can ignore the sign. Lets see who wins in court.

I never use that on ramp so no issue there. But I do use the on ramp on 400 South in SLC coming North which is identical and I yield to East bound traffic out of respect and for safety of all, not because the sign is there.

In all honesty, I believe they will be widening the Northbound on ramp to make it easier for traffic to merge when they replace the Gentile and Church Street overpasses next year. The interstate is scheduled to be widened to 5 lanes on each side and an express lane from Farmington to the I-84 Junction. And with the construction of the new 1425 North overpass traffic will be reduced on Antelope Drive and Hill Field Road intersections.

Earl is correct-- a project is coming to add the Express Lanes on I-15 from Layton to Riverdale in the next year or so. That project is just now entering the design/pre-construction phase, so determinations are being made about the scope and scale for that project. In the meantime, we have passed your suggestion for a flashing yield sign on to the region traffic operations engineer, who will make a determination as to whether one can/should be installed or not. They are very expensive and not always effective. In all truth, if people are not paying any attention to the present yield sign, while they may temporarily notice a flashing yield sign they soon will go right back to do the driving habits they have established-- which do not include defensive driving or a concern for other motorists. The failure to yield is really a law enforcement issue, that local traffic enforcement should be alerted to.
