The two wheel trailer which is attached to the Dodge Dakota Pickup has an expired registration. The Firebird also in the picture has an expired registration as well. There is an unlicensed/unregistered fishing boat and trailer on the property which has not been moved in years. Enough is enough. Please address this ongoing, worsening issue.

In response to your concerns, the following vehicles are all properly registered with the State of Iowa 1979 Pontiac Firebird, Ia. plate BIS 431 expires 12-2017, 2002 Dodge Dakota quad-cab pickup Ia. plate BAU 716, expires 01-2018, homemade single axle trailer Ia. plate CB 2563 expires 10-2017, The city does not have the right to enter the home owners backyard to check the registration on the boat trailer as this would be an illegal search of the property in violation of their 4th Amendment rights according to a Judicial Magistrate . The Judicial Magistrate has also issued a ruling that the city does not have the right nor authority to ask any owner of any vehicle to start it and move it to be certain that it is operable.

What about my right and the rights of the neighborhood to enjoy our properties without having a blighted property to have to look at? There are large black bags of garbage strewn about near the back door. A boat motor & lawnmower next to the alley hidden in weeds that get so big they scratch cars going down the alley. Last summer i pulled them up twice & another neighbor weed wacked them.

This is an extremely disappointing response.

The owner of this car lot told the city inspector that the Dodge pick up that is sitting next to the alley was purchased and the new owner was waiting for tax refund money. The truck is STILL sitting there and now they're using the bed of the truck as a dumpster. This will be the last time that I complain about this eye sore property as living next to it has prompted me to move. Pretty sad that I have to move since they can get away with TELLING city officials lies to get out of having to clean up their junkyard.
