To offer an alternate view, I lived at Grand Marina for ~2.5 years (until 2014). People would frequently blow the stop sign on Clement. It was somewhere I always exercised extra caution since it happened so often. Perhaps the traffic in the neighborhood has increased with development (not just the new fire / emergency station that's moving about a whole block from its old location). Maybe it's time to add a stop sign. People often use that road to bypass normal street traffic / stop signs. That said, 50 mph must be an exaggeration for traffic coming from the marina. My car can't hit that speed at that distance, neither can anything towing a boat.

Thank you for your request to help make Alameda’s transportation infrastructure as safe and efficient as possible. Public Works, Alameda Police, and the City’s Transportation Planning Unit have developed a list of locations where traffic calming measures will be implemented. This list for 2017-2019 will be located at: https://alamedaca.gov/finance/budgets/2012-13 beginning in June 2017. Given tight budget constraints, the list is generated and prioritized based a location’s history of collisions, police citations, its relationship with existing transportation plans and improvements, and suggestions from members of the public, such as yours. In early 2018, we’ll reevaluate the current list of locations and consider your suggestion, along with the 100+ suggestions we are likely to receive from other members of the public in this calendar year.
