The Road Commission of Macomb County did apply for federal funding for a roundabout at this location, but we were turned down. We will continue to apply when additional funding becomes available. We encourage residents to contact the Road Commission of Macomb County directly at 586-463-8671 or at geninfo@rcmcweb.org to let us know of any complaints or concerns regarding county road conditions, construction, maintenance, signs and signals. Thank you.
I agree that a roundabout would be terrific at this location. Too bad the funding was turned down, the one at 25 & Hayes is a huge help in keeping traffic flowing.
Is it possible to at least put a right hand turn lane on Northbound Romeo Plank turning East onto 25 Mile Road? This would alleviate the traffic back-up on Romeo Plank. Also, what about adding a left-hand turn lane on West bound 25 Mile Road for folks to turn left on Southbound Romeo Plank?
The cost to add a turn lane as you describe is approximately $100,000, so this would be a $200,000 project for both turn lanes. The Road Commission would have to share this cost with Macomb Township. We will approach the township to see if they have funding available to participate in these projects.
This is similar to the intersection improvement that will be done at 22 Mile and Heydenreich this year.
