Description
People do not stop at this 4 way stop sign. Many do not even slow down. They speed right through it and there are children in the area that could be hit. Have complained to town but it still goes on.

How would you have them "fix it"? Port Ewen doesn't have its own Police Department, so is your position that the County should dedicate one of its Sheriff's patrol vehicles to just spend a shift watching for someone to run the stop sign?
Doesn't seem like the most productive use of limited government resources.
I'm sympathetic to your concerns, but at the end of the day, there's only so much law enforcement can do without materially impacting their ability to handle much more prevalent problems.

Yes, a shift or two well spent, or would you have them out at the mall or running up and down 32 somewhere "more important"?
The county did just that years ago in Port Ewen at Bayard and Lampman. It only takes a shift or two for folks to see the police presence and become more cautious (of getting a ticket).
What else are the sheriff patrols doing? What's more important than our kids? This corner is a school bus stop after all. If something urgent comes across - well, that's why they have radios and cars in the first place. This intersection is one block away from 9W and two away from the substation at town hall.

Kingston is an example of police dept out of control. There is a stop sign on nearly every corner at each intersection. Now what's up with that? OH bye the way if you're so interested in protecting children ask the police to enforce the cell phone law. That is far more dangerous to children and other drivers
