A large number of homeless individuals ha e taken over the park recently. They now monopolize several of the covered picnic benches, meaning we can't picnic at the park any longer. They also cause numerous messes, leaving cigarettes and alcohol containers around. Also, they sit and stare at the small children at the park. Due to the numerous homeless individuals in the park all day, my family has stopped using the park, as it is no longer safe. I pass by several times a day and never see police officers walking the park or checking out with these subjects.

We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

We have an office in the area North of the park in the 2100 block of 14th

The individuals frequenting the park in the daytime sleep in between our buildings after dark. Cleaning up after them is a challenge everyday as the safety concerns of those who want to work in a safe environment after dark.
The parks Department should police the grounds after them everyday and the police should inforce the loitering laws currently in force in the City of St Petersburg.
