Description
The north side of ocean crest rd turns into a River whenever it rains. It's constant and becoming dangerous. Water runs the entire length of the road only to drain on MacKinnon. It's creating pothole situations, eroding the street, driveways, and creeping onto landscaping in the neighborhood. Drainage or another remedy is badly needed on our road. Munevar and other roads were cared for last year. It's time Ocean Crest gets some love. Please take action.

Ocean Crest Road has been included in the City's 2018 Slurry Seal Program. Work should start in September or October 2018 with repairs to some areas taking place sooner.
Regarding your request about drainage improvements that is a more difficult request. The solution to the drainage issues on Ocean Crest Rd. is concrete curb and gutter on both sides of the street for the entire stretch of Ocean Crest Rd. from MacKinnon to Justin Rd. Unfortunately, that is very costly and there currently is not any funding for this. In addition, once you put in curb and gutter you have to bring up the entire street to Federal American with Disabilities (ADA) Compliance which will require sidewalks and pedestrian ramps. Federal law prohibits us from just installing concrete curb and gutter without also installing concrete sidewalk and ramps. The price tag to do all these improvements is somewhere around the range of $650,000-$750,000. As mentioned, there currently aren’t any funds for this. It would require a CIP project to be approved by City Council along with the funding for it in a future fiscal year. That is not a simple task. Funding for this type of project is limited and you are competing with a long list of other CIP projects for this funding. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that it will take several years for something like this to happen, and that is not a guarantee it will happen.
You can start by getting your neighbors on your street to fill out a petition, and submitting that petition request to have full street improvements installed on Ocean Crest to City Council.
