NO MORE LIGHTS!!! Safe, cautious driving works just fine here. We do not need a light at every side road people. Wait your turn to pull out and you'll be just fine!
Of all the intersections in the area, this is a major one that needs a light.
VF Road is highly traveled and same with Snyder. Lights are installed for safety and this intersection needs one.
NO MORE LIGHTS.
These people that want a light here probably only have used this road because people are using it to detour around Allentown Rd now that it is closed. Watch how the traffic slows down when Allentown road re-opens.
How is it dangerous?!?!?! You can easily see both ways before you pull out onto Valley Forge and if you're turning onto Snyder.. WAIT TILL THE ROAD'S CLEAR! How hard is it. Everyone's solution to idiots not being able to safely pull out into traffic is LIGHTS.. STOP SIGNS.. LIGHTS.. STOP SIGNS.. LIGHTS.. STOP SIGNS. How about go back to driving school!!!!!
I see your point that it is clear to see BUT there is so much traffic on VF Road even before the construction, that it is very difficult to make the left off of Snyder and compounded if someone is across the street trying to pull out. I have been driving that road for 30+ years and it has gotten more difficult each year, One more light won't hurt the township .........
I never use Snyder Road but do see how difficult it is for traffic turning off that road onto VF rd. I agree, they probably should put a traffic light there.
As part of the Valley Forge Road/Sumneytown Pike project, which has already had $1.3 million expended in engineering and right of way work, this effort includes the widening of Valley Forge to Snyder Road with a light installed at VF and Snyder Roads. The project has been removed from the Transportation Improvement Plan by the County and the Delaware Valley Planning Commission. There is a 2010 budget item in the Federal Budget for the completion of engineering of this project, but the House and Senate have failed to pass a new Transportation Authorization bill. Towamencin Township has met with State Representatives and Senators, as well as Federal Representatives and Senators over the last three years. Rep Matt Bradford has had an item put in the Budget for completion of engineering.
Given the cost of a traffic light (engineering and installation = $250,000) and the state of the budget and the priorities of the Township, it is not in our budget for this year. This is also a joint intersection with Upper Gwynedd. We are aware of the issue, but without funding we are unable to rectify the situation, which is compounded by the NPSD buses and the high school. Until it is rectified it is incumbent on everyone to practice safe driving at this intersection.
Given that the Township, County and the State are aware of the issue, and it has been repeatedly brought to their attention, all actions that can be taken on this issue have been taken at the present time.
No more lights! It will give these idiots another reason to take other back roads to get to work faster. If you need to make a left hand turn onto Valley Forge Road and you don't want to wait....take another route that will make it easier...duhhhh
Leave a minute earlier. Stop speeding. Use common sense. Hang up the phone. Use another route (they exist in this neighborhood). No need to blow more tax money on a $250,000 light that will only make traffic worse on Valley Forge anyway. Enough lights. How about enforcing traffic rules and stopping the idiots who speed down Valley Forge road on a constant basis?
