WTF? The former Rex Hardware property is a sitting duck to be torn down by some @#$% developer and replaced by more @#$% condos - condos that aren't needed, and will only help increase the property value in the area. That may sound nice, but Uptown is getting killed by developers, and all the cool people that have made Uptown what it is can barely afford to live there today as it is (myself included, and I've lived in Uptown my whole life). WE CAN'T HAVE ANY MORE F@ING CONDOS, and that's what the graffiti has been about. The graffiti has been anti-development and PRO-community (pro-Uptown).
Hell...just writing this makes me wanna grab my paint cans and get out there and write some anti-yuppie graf myself. I hate developers! They're ruining what's LEFT of Uptown, and they're getting away with it because of a very corrupt city council who would gladly bend over with their pants down for the developers. And the developers don't even help the community. Hell, just look at the Trader Joe's fiasco on 22nd.
Has anyone noticed that 26th & Lyndale is practically the only intersection around that is pristine? All four buildings are old and have character. Everywhere else you go has at least one ugly new development on the corner with some godforsaken Starbucks or gift shop for soccer moms from Eden Prairie.
That's exactly what the graffiti is about. I support that graffiti, and it @#$% me off to see someone @#$% about it. The very idea that graffiti can be stopped in the first place is complete nonsense. Graffiti is public art, and you'll never stop it. NEVER.
Get real. If you can't handle it, move back to the burbs.

Conserve energy this winter. Unplug electrical appliances when you’re not using them. You could save $256 per year. Many appliances enter “passive standby” mode when they are turned off, or they run a clock display. As much as 40 percent of the energy used to power appliances is used while they are turned off. www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/energychallenge/SimpleSteps_EnergyChallenge.asp
