You did not answer the question. What tempature does it have to be outside before you can start filling pot holes???? I have put in other reports to which you have posted your standard "it has been assigned" but they still havent done them either.

We can fill potholes whenever the weather is dry enough to do so. Many times in the winter the pothole is filled, but they don't stay filled. It's very difficult to fill potholes in wet weather and get the pothole to stay filled. When we assign the pothole to the station, we actually send them a copy of the report you have filed. In most cases they have already filled the pothole by the time we report it, but they may miss a few to. They're human. We've reported this-- we'll give them a chance to do it.

I am human, and I have no problem giving somebody a chance to do something... However I reported potholes at two different locations, literally over a month ago I drive past them every day and no attempt has been made to fill them in a month. so how long should we give them? It would be nice just to see someone make an attempt in less than 30th days and show some effort wouldn't you agree?

I spoke to our Hooper Maintenance Station supervisor tomorrow, and he says he has been to the location you identified as the site of the potholes and can't find anything. So please make sure we have the correct address of the exact location. That might be the problem. Also, we have found that some people classify stuff as potholes that aren't potholes at all. Not saying you did. But you can see the difficulty we occasionally have with locating what people are telling us about. So if you could perhaps take a picture of the general area and attach it, that could help. Thanks

ok actual address are 3800 w. 5500 S. east bound looks like they tried to fix it but it has sunk again. Another "area" is east and west of intersection of 2200 W. 5600 S eastbound. Another "area" is west bound between 3925 W. and 3975 W. on 5500 S. The last two are sections of what i would call multiple smaller pot holes or "rough road" no matter what you call it, it needs to be fixed. Again not trying to be rude but it should be this hard, get in the truck and take a drive from 5500 W. 5500 S. east to 1900 w. make a u turn and drive back west to 5500 W. every where you see a fixable problem get out and fix it. There are more than the 3 i mentioned but those are a good jumping off points to get started. If you would like I would be more than happy to take a ride together and you can correct my ingorance and tell me why certain problem areas can not be fixed. Thanks

Not calling you "ignorant" or making light of anything you've said. But there is obviously a difference in opinion on what you call a pothole and what our guys in the field believe it to be. Hitting the edge of a manhole cover, for instance, will create a bump, but its not a pothole. Just saying. These guys are extremely proud of the job they do and the professionalism they put into their jobs everyday. They are out there driving every mile of every road within their purview every single day. So lots of times it does come down to definitions of things. And like you, I'm not being rude-- just telling you how it might be. I will forward your location identification to our people out there and see if it changes anything in their perspective. We'll let you know what they find when they visit the spots you have specifically called out.

Thanks, i appreciate what you are saying and you guys are the experts. I dont know what the techincal term is for a stretch of asphalt road that has mutliple shallow holes of varing shape, size, depth and layout. I may be ignorant about things and i have no problem with someone showing me how i am wrong that is how i learn, and I get what you are saying about hitting the edge of a man hole cover, I assure you this is not what i am referring to. None of what i have described has anything to do with, where two different types of material (asphalt, cement, or metal) meet each other or even where two different patches of asphalt come together for that matter. Those 2 stretches i have described are what i would call "deteriorating asphalt" issues. And the other one lets call it a "re offending pothole" as they tried to fix it but then the material sunk down

Nothing has been done or attempted, how come?

I asked our station supervisor that question and he told me that they have been there, and they are not seeing anything they consider a pothole or anything they can do anything with at the location. He said if you would like to meet him there, give us your contact information and he will call and arrange a meeting so that you can explain what it is that you're seeing. Then you can meet, show him what you see, and he can explain what can or cannot be done with it. Are you willing to do that?

The "area" that is east and west of intersection of 2200 W. 5600 S eastbound is more minor but still what i would consider noticeable. The "area" that is west bound between 3925 W. and 3975 W. on 5500 S. is boat load and i have no idea how it is even possible to claim you can't see it. What number would you like me to call to arrange an appointment and who do i ask for?

I will forward the description, "west bound between 3925 W. and 3975 W. on 5500 S." to our Hooper Maintenance Station foreman and see if he can see what it is you see. As I said, the original location you identified was 3500 W. 5600 S. Roy, UT. They went to that site and did not find anything they identified as need immediate repair. According to our station supervisor, they spent the entire day working on the roadway between 3925 W. and 3975 W. on 5500 S. He says they spent the day "tearing this section up and replacing the base underneath." If they haven't already, they will pave it as soon as the weather allows.

Most of the road is done now but not ALL of it. Yes they did some work on that section. Some of the other areas i mentioned they have at least went out and spray painted a white circle with an X thru it on the asphalt. Which i would assume is to bring attention to it to some other crew. I am just thrilled they are making an effort. Hopefully the next problem I report they will just do it with out all the back and forth hassel and the "we cant see it" replies which is very frusterating.
