Description
Excessive speeding on 1st st n from 22nd ave n to 30th ave n. 25mph speed limit needs enforcement. Traffic slowing devices needed..ie stop signs or traffic humps. Even city busses speed on 1st st.

I would really like something like this. But ideally 2-3 speed bumps would fix it and divert a lot of the snell isle and shore acre commuters to 4th street

I also witness the PSTA busses speeding, as well as countless other official city and commercial vehicles. I think those that obey the posted speed limit are in the minority. I do drive our residential streets at the posted 25mph, maximum, or less depending on conditions. I can't tell you the number of impatient drivers that have ridden up on my bumper. Some have even passed me on 1st St and I have even seen a couple of these jerks pass cars slowing for the hump, while crossing the hump.
I would support any and all speed control measures, restoring the existing hump, the addition of additional humps and some stop signs. I especially like the radar signs, but without some dedicated measures of enforcement to back them up, I have my doubts that anything will slow these people down. They have no regard for the law.
These are residential streets and it would be nice to restore them to the residents. First Street was never intended to be a commuter thoroughfare, nor should any other residential street. We now have 19 children living on our block and have a speeding problem of our own on 25th Ave, which is being used as a link between 4th St and 1st St. The situation on 1st St is indicative of a much larger problem on all our streets - bad, inconsiderate drivers.

Agree. The speeders continue down 1st Street N to 9th Ave N. this is a densely populated area and 25 mph is appropriate.
A traffic issue continues on 9th Ave N from Beach Drive to 4th Street. It is two way, narrow and parked cars on one side. There is never enough vacant spaces on the parking side to allow cars to pass safely. Cars speed and it is surprising that there hasn't bee an accident.

Speeding has been getting worse on 1st St, as well as the number of people using it to avoid the congestion on 4th St N. You mention adding more speed bumps and radar signs, but suggest (accurately, I believe) that they probably would have no real effect. How about having the police write a few tickets? That would actually get people's attention. And it would neither affect those of us who follow the law (more speed bumps), nor sully the beauty of our neighborhood (the radar sign).
An additional potential problem with more speed bumps: does anyone remember when the one by 25th Ave was put in? For a couple of years, every time certain jerks drove over it, even in the middle of the night, they would lay on the horn to express their displeasure, destroying the peace and quiet and ruining people's sleep for quite a distance around it.
I vote for actually enforcing the law, not just adding more suggestions to do so.

I don't think the radar is being suggested as a permenant solution. This is 1 step of several that will hopefully happen as Michael outlined earlier. We should be thankful it's getting some attention.

Thanks for your help and I am sorry for being a bit pushy. I do appreciate that you are following the propper chain. I can not attend the meeting tonight as I am about to leave town for a wedding. To let you know, There has been no presence of police on 1st st. I have watched and asked retired neighbors who know everythig about the area. None. Today I was crossing 1st to talk to my new neighbors and a car
beeped at me and shouted get out of the damn road...really? My neighbors just paid a lot of money for their home...I said welcome to life on 1st st. Again, thank you for your help, no progress seen yet....Please pass this on if you can to HONA so sorry i cant attend.
