The church should never have been allowed to sell the property on Pomeworth St that according to the site plans was supposed to be turned in to parking when they were granted permission to put on the addition!
Now this has turned into a daily problem that the police shouldn't be burdened with!
It is unfortunate that the police have to keep responding to this location. The police in the past have issued polite warning tickets to the violators reminding them that this is against the law. I think if actual citations were issued with fines attached, that the problem would cease, and the police would not have to continually go back to this location. A polite warning with no fine attached, is not going to discourage someone who does not care enough for public safety.
The police have issued many money citations on numerous occasions at that location and are then considered inconsiderate or the "bad guys" when enforcement action is taken. I'm just shocked that church going people and those who send their children to a private Catholic School park on a sidewalk without hesitation or consideration for pedestrians. It is very unfortunate !
I just drove by there, and 3 hours later, the sidewalk is completely filled with cars. It's hard to imagine the police are taking a serious active role in resolving the situation. I can understand your comment about police being viewed as the bad guys. Unfortunately, all people who break the law look at the police has bad guys. If a police officer can not handle being frowned upon by somebody who's breaking the law, then maybe they are not in the right profession.
I am sure the church is aware of it and does not discourage it. The church should be the ones calling the police, and reporting that violators are blocking the sidewalk in front of their establishment. In this situation, it's hard to consider the church a "good neighbor"
