That whole area needs to be redone...Their is always a line of traffic, whether on Heisley, Mentor Ave or Chillicothe...

An interesting concept, but probably unrealistic (not to mention the major headaches that would be created), would be to add a right turn only lane starting after Lori Jean Drive and continuing all the way till Mentor Ave. As far as turning left out of Wal-Mart when there is traffic coming out of Heisley Point shopping better signage posted near the actual lights telling drivers who yields would suffice. Even though we are taught traffic laws before we are allowed to get our license apparently people don't realize that people turning right or straight have the right away and people turning left must yield to all others. One of the more frustrating thing about this light is if you are turning left onto Heisley and the people coming from Heisley Pointe who are turning right heistate, which creates a standoff and holds up traffic.

A big par of this problem is the parking lot by Casa D'Angelo/Half Price books that shares this light. That traffic comes in from a weird angle that doesn't line u[ and is above grade. Combine that with people who don't signal wether they are turning or going straight from that drive and you have a big game of chicken.

And the people traveling on Heisley North or South blow through this light like crazy! I work in the Half Price Book Store Plaza and I see at least 2 cars a day just go right through the red light without even breaking. I think drivers are looking at the light on Mentor Ave and don't even see the light at the Wal-Mart Heisley intersection. AND YES.....people share the road and turn when the light turns green!! If I'm pulling out to the right don't cut in front of me when your turning left......go back to Drivers Ed!!

For those who have trouble exiting Wal~Mart from this drive please remember you have another alternative in the Mentor Avenue signalized exit. You may want to consider that perhaps Mentor doesn't give as much time to the DRIVEWAY as they do to a major roadway. It's much easier to back up traffic in a drive than it is through a nearby intersection only a few hundred feet away. Perhaps we should petition Mentor to remove this signal and eliminate the complaint.

BOTH Walmart exits need to have the sensors/light timing adjusted. They both require far too long a wait - there are traffic studies the engineer's office can reference to recommend appropriate timing. The overall goal is safety, of course, but long waits cause impatience - and that affects safety when people take risks.

Due to the proximity of the Mentor Avenue signal to this intersection, more time can not be given to the DRIVEWAY without causing backups through the major intersection of Heisley and Mentor Avenue. If you don't like the delays learn to deal with it or go out on Mentor Avenue as I do.

This is being re-opened because one person "really annoyed" has nothing better to do than close an issue that many other people have taken up cause in.

Truth is, adding 5 or ten more seconds to a light is not going to cause backups to mentor ave. I drive past this intersection 100 times a day, i rarely see backups that extend near mentor ave. Also, this issue was more then extending the light timing, it was also about fixing the sensor. Sorry that you are annoyed but this issue still remains.

So Engineer, if you drive past this intersection 100 times a day you may be part of the problem there. Do us all a favor and stay out of the area. People throw the term engineer around too loosely on this site. If you don't represent the agency related to the concern then please call yourself something else.

Didnt mean to go through all that college edgamacation and get you all upset. i am going to assume that your snide comment is assuming i am claiming to be a traffic engineer, which i never did. i wouldnt want to put my place of business out there for fear that you will come there and take out your hatred of engineers out on us. Also, i wasnt aware that my driving is causing a problem but thanks for the heads up! ill be more careful next time!

It's a conspiracy by the City of Mentor who is stil angry at Walmart.

I just run it everytime, even if there are cars waiting in front of me, I go around them and blow through it, with no regard to anything else coming through the intersection, am I nuts or what?

The most laughable part of this intersection is the fact that they are fixing something right now and blocking two lanes (cars turning right into walmart from heisley and cars turning left out of walmart onto heisley) however they never thought to change the timing of the light. Cars were backed up passed the back of Salvation Army yesterday and the light only lasted long enough to let FOUR cars out. Nothing you can do but shake your head.

I have noticed if you go to the light that's on mentor ave, make a left onto mentor ave, and then a left onto heisley it's actually faster than waiting at this light.

Continuously clicking on 'I want this fixed too!" is not the way to get an issue fixed.

People, I think that the traffic light at Wal-Mart is owned and operated by Wal-Mart. If this is the case then it may be best to talk to the Wal-Mart people to change the timing. It may be possible that Wal-Mart owns the light and they need to be the ones to get Mentor’s approval to have the timing changed, which could cause a huge communication problem. Good luck getting those two together to make a decision, and have them hatch out who will pay the worker to do the work. God bless.

Wal-Mart does not own this light, the city does.

Maybe the city leaves the light alone because the people on Heisley Road don't let the light do its job and control the flow of traffic. I am sick of drivers sitting at a green light letting people turn right on red. This happens at many intersections in Mentor not just Wal*Mart.

Karl, I am curious to know what cities you have lived in that the stores own the traffic lights. Keep it real!

I hope that you do know that company’s can and do operate traffic lights, Steris does, and I think Fasson does as well. I just don’t know who maintains the traffic lights. Someone else here told us that Wal-Mart does not own the traffic light and if that person knows then I was wrong not to mention that I was wrong if Wal-mart owns the traffic light but has no say in the timing part of it. IF EVERYONE USED THEIR TURN SIGNALS AND MOVED WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THINGS WOULD GO FASTER.

GET OFF YOUR PHONES AND PAY ATTENTION.

But yes, the light needs to be extended 10 seconds. That would help a lot.

Plus Mentor is WAY too congested, so that doesn't help. I can't wait to leave here. Nice place to visit, but horrible for living. I've been here for almost 30 years. Get me outta here.
